I wanted so badly to like this book. I love a good, spicy monster book, and this demon-romance offered a unique setting and a new spin on things. Unfortunately, something about it just missed the mark for me.
All of the characters in this book felt a little flat to me. Joy's laser-focus on exacting her revenge left little room in this short book for much else. I couldn't ever quite get a feel for her real personality, which always makes a read a bit less enjoyable for me. Between her focus on killing and the spice, there was just not really much room for any other substance.
I spent most of the book hoping that Joy would overcome her trauma in a healthy way and move on without actually going through with her plan. I'm no rape apologist, but the fact that the whole book (and her whole personality) was focused on being a murderer, herself, made me feel a little gross.
I can see the appeal for some audiences, but for me, this book unfortunately missed the mark.

It was originally gonna be a 3.5 ⭐️ read, but the ending gave it a .5 bump for pleasantly surprising me.

I enjoyed this one. The buildup and sexual tension was pretty hot and the reasoning for them not getting right together was very logical. We also love killing rapists and getting away with it 😄
