I actually really enjoyed this which isn't really surprising. Love a good demon summoning into romance and this did that spectacularly. While the themes were really dark, the romance was just really sweet (and spicy). One of my favorite aspects of this book was just how unapologetically murderous Joy was and how it wasn't seen as something negative.
I mean... If Malachi [demon sir] showed up in my living room, I WOULD NOT COMPLAIN.
Friends, this was delicious. I wish there was more "plot" especially some more backstory into Malachii - he was fucking fascinating. But, alas, sweet vengeance indeed! I also thoroughly enjoyed why Joy did what she did.

Really fantastically done.
I absolutely love the gender + body neutral language throughout, and the way that accidental misgendering was handled the one time it came up — no fanfare or over the top apologies, just correction and moving on.
I generally try to steer clear of fiction with SA plots, but this was very well done. No graphic descriptions, no power or name given to the victimizer in the story, and no glossing over it as if it were just a plot point. Joy’s feelings, healing and revenge were believable and cathartic.
The romance was also incredibly sweet.
