Cameron is a seventeen year old girl who has been moving from place to place with her grandma. She has to start over in making friends (if any) and becoming comfortable with the new environment. Although it never becomes comfortable. It was not until a new guy showed up (in all of her classes no less) and shows her a world she thought she only knew. Her friend and fake friend and school notice how much time Cam is spending with this guy and not them. Eventually rumors spread around (as info real or not does in high school). She has to decide if she wants to runaway with this new guy that actually makes her feel comfortable, or stay in the drab life of being a high school under the strict scrutiny of her grandma.

Most characters seem to be blond(e) hair and blue eyed in this cape cod town of Maine. All the men are muscular or bulky. The women (and teenagers) seems to only be described by their hair color and outfit. The diversity isn't really there. The story is good, but it seems like something wasn't quite there for the story to make it a four/five star book. The ending was acceptable. I would want to read the next book to find out how the story plays out. Since it was just good chances are I'm going to find another (or several) book to read before that.

Just, no.

I was so excited to read this series literally for the sole reason that mind reading seems so cool and the first line of the first book, "The man across from me was thinking about killing his wife", (or something to that effect) intrigued me from the get-go. Now, after having read books 1-3 and the ending novella, I have never been more annoyed or frustrated not only in a story line but also in a writer's incompetence for her own story.

-I can't say how many times Cameron said "This will be the last time I'll ever see ______." It lost it's punch quickly.

-The author had the same descriptions over and over. Pink and orange sunset, nails biting into her arms, the scent of spicy cologne, men being "warm". It just got lazy.

-The 2nd and 3rd book not only start out with the last chapter of the previous book, but also copy PAGES and pages of "memories" from prior books. I almost had to skip over them seeing as I'd just read them in the last book.

-The author literally changed names and spellings like it was nothing. The receptionist went from Ellen to Helen, and Aunt Elizabeth turned to Aunt Lindsey to Aunt Lyndsey. I can't.

Not much happened as I look back. The smallest actions were sooo drug out and it was a chore to finish the last book. Again, a great concept, just not a great execution.

The Mind Readers

Overall this was okay, but I honestly kinda wish it had been focused on the murder mystery plot instead of the secret organization plot, the murder mystery stuff was more interesting

I'm actually surprised at how quickly I became attached to this story. I wasn't expecting to become as invested in it as I did. Usually with free reads it is a hit or a miss. I'm so glad that this one held together so well.

At the beginning Cameron seem like too much of a push over for me to like, but she slowly began to grow on me.

The biggest thing about this book is I never really trusted anyone, too many motives and not enough understand. Still, even now I'm left frustrated and wondering what the point is/was. Such a great hook into the series. But Gah!

I liked this book and the storyline. But my God, how often can a girl blush/flush in one book? It felt like every other page. And the 'heart slamming against the chest' got real boring after about the fifth time!

The book was incredibly well written, sucking me into the world of the Mind Readers. As a first book of a series and being free it does a really good job into wanting to read more, the chapters and overall look was simply amazing. The author managed to keep you in suspense until the very last moment. Which proved to be true after I've read the last few sentences of the book.
Will recommend to anyone who is asking for recommendation on YA books.

An interesting book, I liked Cameron and the children but found it difficult to work out who were the trustworthy characters among the rest. Which was probably the intention.
Definitely a good read, I'm already reading book two to see what happens next.
The ending was a twist I wasn't expecting which leads in nicely to the next book in the series.
