This was surprisingly good. The only complaint I have is the insta-love and the fact Cameron thought everyone was jealous of her. Oh, and I wasn't a huge fan of her constantly asking questions. I understand that this was a mysteryish type book, but still. I can't wait for the second one.
Predictable plus annoying cliffhanger ending.
I will preface my review with this: If I were a 17 year old girl, I'd probably rate this much higher.
Things I Liked:
1. The concept of the book was great. Girl is a mind reader and thinks she and her grandmother are the only ones. Girl finds out that isn't true and learns to use her powers by being taught by people like her. Things don't seem to be as great as they first appeared and a bit of mayhem ensues.
2. Maddox - I liked the way he was portrayed in the book and I liked that the author kept a fair amount of mystery surrounding his character considering he was "the bad guy" according to the other mind readers.
3. Caroline and Olivia - I liked the parts they played in the book, but wish they were featured more and their abilities explained in further detail.
4. The twist ending. It didn't entirely wow me since I'd figured out how some of the events would play out, but I thought the author did a good job with explaining the events through Cam's eyes. It left questions, but when you stop and think that Cam wouldn't know things due to certain circumstances, I think it made the ending more believable.
5. The murder mystery scene. I actually thought the author did a good job describing the events leading up to the discovery of the body and the actions of everyone present, including the killer.
Things I Didn't Like
1. Cam apparently has a great olfactory system. That girl smells EVERYTHING. Any time Lewis was near her she thought about the way he smelled like soap and (fill in the blank). Upon first meeting Aaron, she notes how he smells. All the women she smells are vanilla scented. It was just a little ridiculous because it really felt like I read how someone smelled at least once per chapter, if not more.
2. The Cam/Lewis love story. So, it's explained why she's drawn to him, which makes the romance a little less annoying; however, I really get frustrated when I feel like the story isn't progressing because we need to focus on some angst filled teenage love story when there are far more interesting events taking place (children locked in a basement dorm, S.P.I. agents who may or may not be the enemy, Aaron and his all around creepiness, and the list goes on).
3. Lewis - There were actually times I did like his character. I'd probably even say that I liked him most of the time. What annoyed me about him (and what ultimately made me put him in the "Things I didn't like list") was his reaction to antyhing S.P.I. related. Yes, I understand that they killed people and that's bad, however, he lumps every member of S.P.I. with the couple of people in the group who did the killing. When Cam says that Maddox couldn't have been involved because he's too young to have even been there, Lewis' response is just "He's S.P.I. and they killed them!" Essentially they're all guilty by association. Additionally, I felt like he was so moody and wishy washy for most of the last half of the book. He gets mad at Cam and tells her to leave, but when she's packing her bags to go, he asks what she's doing. Then he gets mad at her for saying he told her to go. She leaves and he gets upset because she didn't say goodbye. Make up your mind.
Overall this was engaging enough that I purchased the second book to see where it goes from here. It was a quick read that had some grammatical and spelling errors, but none that were so glaringly horrifying that I was too distracted to continue.

I loved it! I did not want to put it down! the only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because as not amused by the ending.
The Mind Readers is about Cameron, since birth she has been able to read minds.Cameron lives with her Grandma who also has the same ability.Cameron is like any teenager, who wants to be free of her Grandmas control. When someone she knows is murdered, she meets a mysterious guy who has the same ability. Will the new guy be able to help her learn how to better understand her abilities and why she is being hunted down for her whole life.
The problem with The mind readers it that it is too short.I felt like the story was rushed at times, and wished more of my questions were answered in this one. At times, the characters were weak, but then again I will go with that the book was to short. There is so many secret kept from you, that is the only reason to reason to read the next one. I honesty don't know if I will be picking up the next one, but the ending left with a cliffhanger that almost forces me to read the next one.

Frightening, disturbing, teen romance paranormal thriller. Cameron is 17 years old and has lived her entire life with her grandmother hiding her mind reading abilities. She is tired of running and hiding and of being afraid to try to help people when she knows other people are going to do something bad. When devastatingly handsome Lewis comes along and tells her that he can take her to people who will help her to use her mind reading abilities in a positive way - and that these people were friends of her deceased father - she goes with him willingly. But, all is not paradise there either. She hears crying at night and finds that Aaron, who is running the place, has kidnapped children with psychic powers in order to use them for his own purposes which he claims are noble, but she doubts that. And what about Lewis, who claims to love her? Ending with a cliffhanger, the next book promises to be similar. I got this book free to review from Netgalley.
a solid 4 stars.
I received an ARC via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
This is the story about Cameron, who has been living hiding a huge secret from everyone. She is able to read minds and until weird things started happening in her small town she hasn't met anyone else like her. That is until she meets Lewis. Lewis shows her what life could be like if she didn't have to hide her ability from everyone. Cam goes with him and believes his promise but in the process finds out some truly horrifying facts. I thought that this novel had a lot of really great aspect to it. It was a really nice change to the books that I have been reading recently. I do wish there was a little more romance but even so I found it refreshing. There were some parts though were I did find myself skimming through to get to what happens next but overall I really did enjoy this book. There is a small cliffhanger nothing that I felt was extremely pressing but the story did leave me wanting to pick up the next in the series, which is a good sign. I hope there will be more romance in the next book though.

Very appealing idea to me, the mind reading.
Unfortunately, while the story should be interesting, it wasn't - meaning there still was no story.
The main heroine is very annoying plain stupid....
