It has everything I love in a book treasure hunts forbidden love magical realism witches and ancient curses. The atmosphere is lush the history feels alive and the mystery kept me turning pages late into the night.
If you are craving a transportive read that is equal parts magical and emotional this one is a must. Highly recommend 📚✨

The book drew me in immediately. I stayed up most of two nights reading it with great excitement, but then it fell flat about 3/4 of the way through. The present-day storyline didn’t make complete sense to me (I understood the plot, I just didn’t understand why Enzo’s mother chose the use her magic in the ways she did) and the ending itself felt rushed.
That said, this is a great beach book. I went snorkeling just after finishing it and thought about the sea witches as I swam. That part will stick with me. And an irrelevant point: I absolutely love the cover!
