3.85 AVERAGE

Quick, easy read. Not a lot of depth to the story or the characters. 3 stars because I wasn’t bored reading the book.
mysterious slow-paced

HOW does this book have a 4 star rating? It could be a good book for a beginner to the thriller genre, but this book was clinically average. I could see the twist coming from a mile away and wasn't surprising at all. Only things that bump it up from a 2.5 to a 3 is that the writing was decent and the characters were decently fleshed out and realistic. The story is surely something that would happen, so if you like more "true crime" type of thrillers, you might like this one.

Great book! I had some inklings about the twists but I didn’t have enough info to figure it out ahead of time. There are just enough different story lines to keep it interesting but not too many to make it confusing.

The Hendricks & Pekkanen duo are one of the only 'authors' I have an always-read-immediately policy with. I love how their books are female driven, with smart women as the leads who make decisions that are realistic to their characters.

This book was so lovely as it slowly unraveled secret after secret. What I love about their thrillers is that I may see some aspects of the ending as possibilities before they fully unravel, but I'm never sure until the very end of which possible course of events is real.

The tension in this is so strong that I read most of it in one day. This dynamic duo has, once again, knocked it out of the park.

I do enjoy all of the books this duo writes, and this one was no different; however, I found it a bit predicable and long in parts. I also felt like the characters voices weren’t distinct enough— it may have been because they were trying to keep you guessing, but I didn’t feel like anyone was particularly developed and I didn’t care much about the fate of any of the characters. Overall, my least favorite of their stories.
