Wow… this book had me intrigued the second I opened it! And it surely did not disappoint. This read took me out of my reading slump. I actually thought I knew all the secrets the characters had in this book and I even thought I knew how the book was going to end but I was so wrong. This is a thriller that makes you question everyone’s actions and the motives behind it. This read contains lies, infidelity, and last but not least murder. I definitely recommend this book if you're looking for a book you don’t want to put down!

3.5 Keeps you turning the pages!

Another winner from author dream team, Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen! These ladies are auto-buy books for me, so when I received an advanced copy of The Golden Couple, I couldn't wait to see what sort of twisty story they created this time!

The Golden Couple had me hooked from the first page, and I read the book in two sittings (I had to break for dinner!). The story is told from two POVs, one is Marissa, a woman who is in marriage therapy with her husband Matthew, and the other is told from Avery's perspective, the marriage therapist they are seeing.

To be honest, I didn't have a ton of theories about how the story would play out while reading this one. Instead of trying to solve the mystery, I was just along for the ride, and what a ride it was! There are several other characters in the story aside from our main trio, and each brought their own element of conflict and drama to the plot, which I really enjoyed.

While the methods Avery uses in her therapy are definitely out there, I did feel like the emotions that Marissa was feeling and the conversations she and her husband had about their marital issues were realistic. The progression from mad to hurt, to resigned, to optimistic felt like a natural progression, and I enjoyed that aspect of the story a lot!

I won't say much else, because I don't want to give anything away, but if you are a fan of Greer/Pekkanen's other works, or if you like domestic suspense novels, this will be a great choice for you! If you read The Golden Couple and enjoy it but have NOT read any of their other work, I suggest checking out The Wife Between Us!

Overall, this was a 4.5 star read for me. I enjoyed the ending, and I was immersed in the book the whole time. It's not usually their style to tie things up in a neat bow, but I would have loved to see a short epilogue set in the future that wrapped up a few of the open items. I'd like to thank St. Martin's Press for my advanced copy of the novel. It was my pleasure to provide an honest review. The Golden Couple is out March 8, 2022, so be sure to pick this one up!

I’m a sucker for a good domestic thriller now and then, and these two **always** have a free audiobook on Libby. I think this was their best one yet though- pretty fun, and I gotta admit there was a part that made me a little teary.

I wish I could read faster - loved the back and forth of the pov from two main characters but not sure I loved the twist. Still had me very into finishing this as quickly as possible!

I had no expectation going into this novel and I'm glad I kept it that way. Homegirl is not your typical therapist but hey, if it works... until it.. doesn't?
I listened to this an audiobook and I'm glad I did. I liked that the two viewpoints of the book were different narrators. This was my first book by Hendricks and it certainly won't be my last!

This book was better than I expected it to be and it’s all because of Avery. I absolutely loved her! Unconventional therapist (ex-therapist), smart, paranoid, loyal, and committed to helping those who need her. The story is more about her than Marissa and Matthew. There was only one part that I thought was too much, but overall, I highly recommend this one to anyone who loves a suspenseful story. I’d love to see Avery in another story because there’s definitely room for this.

color me surprised!!
