EASILY 5 starts for Part One of book— really interesting to watch him experience and process his new… “situation”.
Part Two has more action then I typically go for but I still enjoyed it.

So I follow the Reddits for Audible, audiobooks, etc. And more often than not, the question always comes up... "I just got into audiobooks, what's the best ones to check out?" Every single time, rightfully so, Project Hail Mary (my favorite) is brought up. But right alongside it, is also this gem!
I hesitated for so long, like yeah yeah yeah, whatever, I'm sure it's ok, I'll check it out some time. No no no noooooo, was I wrong! I feel like I cheated myself that I didn't check it out SOONER!
Being on the sci-fi kick that I'm on, this straight out obliterated all the check boxes for what I wanted. The story, the characters... Freaking Ray Porter absolutely killing it once again. Seriously, there are voices that he does, this is going to be one of those "you HAVE to check out the audiobook" recommendations.
I could get into it and talk about it for a while, but I'll end here. This might be the second time ever that I jump right into the next book in the series!

My honest review was provided in exchange for an ARC on NetGalley. Thank you, Saga Press, for giving me this ARC!
3/5
I wanted to like this book, but I could not get into it. The writing style seemed interesting at first, but I quickly got tired of Bob’s humor. It reminded me of Dungeon Crawler Carl, which I did not enjoy either (and DNF’ed for problematic language). I think that’s more a reflection of me, though, since DCC is beloved by many. If you like that style, or something like Django Wexler’s How to Become the Dark Lord and Die Trying, you might enjoy this book too.
I do think this would make a fantastic audiobook, so I would like to try experiencing this story through that medium. Just to see if it changes my opinion.
The premise is good though, regardless of prose. Bob, a former human, is now disembodied sentience, tasked by his authoritarian overlords to find a new home for humans. The story does a decent job exploring concepts like existentialism and agency, which is a nice touch. And there are some really cinematic action sequences. But, sadly, these weren’t enough to elevate this for me. I think I just don’t like this style of book, so I will probably stop picking these kind of books up.
