This book was a fun read. I definitely loved the setting and the characters. I especially loved that we got to meet more of the crew, and I absolutely loved Roslyn. However, I did rate it lower than the first book because I felt that it mostly ignored the possible romances, which I was quite excited to read about. I would be elated if we got some short stories to get insight on what happens after this book. I have to say though, I really appreciated how this book explored Alosa’s relationship with her mother. I definitely let out some audible gasps with this book.

“Air isn't what I need to live. It's him.
It's always been him. Why did it take me
so long to realize?”

I cherished this duology. folklore and history
alarms is all around took advantage of on this subsequent volume. I liked the chemistry of Alosa and Riden, across the oceans, their battles against her father through ruthlessness and their experiences with the baffling
mermaids. I found the book zeroed in more on the profundity of the universe, and the development of the characters.

Solid female lead who portrays on her love and dedication for her crew. I really like when we see the pov of a strong female lead when throughout the movie industry, hero pirates were always shows as strong leaders.
I've won't ever appreciate being caught on a boat in the sea however this book has made me rethink. Life adrift appears to be both quiet and unnerving. The sea holds so many secret, as many scientists have come forward and revealed more and more infos each year.

Story?
In this second book,, Riden has recuperated and gave his consent to join Alosa's group. This is with the understanding that he is as yet a “prisoner”: the cost for keeping Draxen alive. (Basically that is everything Alosa says herself to keep him around…)
They return to the Pirate King’s keep subsequent to getting the last piece of the guide so they can pull together with different skippers and plan the excursion to guarantee the alarm's fortune swarm. At the point when occasions occur at the keep and Alosa should help one of the Pirate King's prisoners’ escape, her crew consents to join her and backing her resistance of her dad, knowing what will befall them assuming that he gets them.

Alosa's crew members  are bold and agile, yet not every person endures the excursion. There are numerous horrible occasions they should persevere to acquire the fortune, and some are not for weak willed, or even the steely-hearted… We get to know more in dept about the crew of the Ava-Lee in this book and go through a few energizing experiences with
them. They are a competent pirate group, all skilled and heartless. They are likewise defensive and faithful to their own group and captain, which is like family for every one of them.
They were totally accumulated by Alosa from their own shocking origin stories to frame her group and become impressive pirates, to turn into a family. The protectiveness and loyalty was so open to each other especially when it comes to Alosa.
The plot twist: her mother was being imprisoned by her father for 17y… she was close to her all along…
In the first book, we see Alosa and Riden getting close, but they have this push and pull thing going on. But it does continue in this book. Before it was Alosa thinking that Riden was only nice to her bcz he had to get info from her. But now it is about her being a siren and him not wanting to be controlled…
I felt frustrated bcz if only they could have communicate, they would have shut every misunderstanding out and finally relieves that sexual tension. But then again, that lack of communication made them grow as a person.
At the end, we do get the HEA.

And convos between Keaton and Enwen:
"Want to hear a joke?'
"No."
A pirate at sea has a peg leg, a hook for a
hand, and an eye parch. One of his companions asks him how he lost his leg"
"Please stop," Kearan begs.
"He answers, "A cannonball.? Then his
companion asks how he lost his hand. He answers, 'A sword!"
"Enwen, I will knock you unconscious,
Karan threatens, but I can tell he doesn't have the energy
to carry it out.
"When the companion asks how he lost
his eye, the man says, 'A spray of the sea.'
Karan stares at Enwen. "That doesn't
even make any sense."
"It was his first day with the hook."
Karan groans and leans his head down
on the table.

This book is also much more darker: cannibalism; description of violence; gun violence; dead of a close one.

Well, it kept me engaged. It left my jaw dropped on several occasions. And didn't have any cliché tropes, well maybe one...I'd call this one a win! This finish to the story was such a nice wrap up, the amount of action that occurred even within the journey were just so well written, I applaud Tricia for being able to create such a fun sea adventure filled story!

I freaking love this duology.  Kickass female main character that will do everything she can to protect those who she loves.
