This book destroyed me emotionally. I've been on and off crying all day and my eyes are screaming at me to go shower cause that seems to be the only way to get them to stop hurting from crying so much.

Efectiv a trecut aproape o luna si inca ma gandesc obsesiv la aceasta carte.
Este atat de speciala pentru mine, dar daca se termina inainte sa inceapa "trecerea anilor", vai, cred ca o puneam si in rama. Inteleg ca trebuia sa arate si parcursul vietii protagonistei, ca sa spunem asa, dar pur si simplu nu mi-a placut. Din punctul meu de vedere putea sa nu existe nici cea mai mica farama de actiune, doar flori si descrieri. As fi fost mega-mega multumita.

A falta de ver la serie le he puesto 3 estrellas que creo que son 3.5. La historia de Alice es sencillamente abrumadora, no dejas de sentir cada parte de su vida como tuya. Desde los nueve años donde casi no puede permitirse vivir su niñez plena hasta la adolescencia donde se permite vivir poco a poco lo que la vida le deja.
Cada giro es importante porque podríamos haberlo vivido cualquiera y es desgarrador como te llega. Es que no se me ocurre otra forma de expresarlo.
Con personajes bien definidos donde destacan Alice y algún otro (que no desvelo para evitar spoilers), vives su evolución, sus tragedias, sus alegrías mientras conoces Australia y el lenguaje de las flores. Con un final digno podría decir y un poco apresurado pero que cierra bien todo lo vivido.
Si has leído hasta aquí solo puedo dejarte una Solanácea violeta, un Guisante del desierto de Sturt y un Árbol del coral. :)

I feel like this is my favourite book of the year so far...that is up against some tough competition but there was absolutely so much going for it.
Beautifully written and constructed, this is a tale about a young woman growing into her own whilst dealing with grief and learning the language of flowers in order to help her heal. Every chapter is constructed around a native Australian flower/plant. We learn the plant's name and it's language, the message it is giving us. We are learning as Alice is learning. We grow as Alice grows.
Beginning when Alice is just 9 years old we are introduced to the harsh reality that she lives. We see her survive her first tragedy and begin to learn what love is and what freedom means. We experience her joy and sadness as she faces new and daunting challenges.
Moving on to her young adult life, we are haunted by the memories of what we, as readers, know is Alice's history. We are hoping that this truth will help to set her free and find her way but we are left hanging by a thread as we watch the course of this woman's life. Unable to help her through it, unable to offer comfort in any way and this brings an ache to your soul.
This is one of those books that I hope everyone will speak about and share and help to bring it in to the light. The messages found within the pages are important. Just as Alice, her stories and her flowers help us to bring meaning to her life, our eyes are opened to the meaning in our own.
