After reading the reviews, I knew that I would really love or really hate this book. Welp, I landed in the love camp. I am a sucker for a generational story and this one delivers on the roller coaster of life and the impact our choices make. I am so excited that this one was adapted into a television show. Many times in reading this it felt like the scene the author set was so vivid, it was easy for my imagination to quickly go there in my mind. I am excited to see how my visions compare the show. This one has raced up the list as one of my favorites of the year.
I'm disappointed because I feel like I invested so much time into a book that gave me nothing. The beginning was tedious and it took me almost 100 pages to start feeling invested in the story. Then things started to pick up at Thornfield and I finally felt like maybe the book was going somewhere. I was starting to enjoy it even before it took the worst turn yet and the national parks/horrible boyfriend storyline happened. And that is when the book lost me forever. Part of me wants to watch the series now to see if this was somehow translated better into a TV show but also should I even bother?
