I don't know; I guess I am not a time-traveler fan. This one was just weird for me. I ended up reading 1/3 of the book and skimming the rest to then end.

I did cry at the end of this book, in a cathartic if sad way. But it was such a lovely take on a time travel idea. And the details of 1996 NYC! I actually was living in NYC then so it just evoked visceral flashbacks for me. I really loved it. But you know, if you've been through the loss of a parent or someone else close to you, just...pick your moment to read this.

Alice is about to turn 40. Her life is pretty good, though it hasn’t turned out quite like she had expected, and her Dad is very sick. After falling asleep outside the house she grew up in, Alice wakes to find herself turning sixteen, and her father a much younger man. What would you do if you had the chance to change decisions you made at sixteen? The premise lends itself to high jinks, and it is certainly fun, but it is also a beautifully nostalgic New York City novel, and a moving story about a woman’s relationship with her father, love, purpose, contentment, and friendship.

Consumed this one. I giggled and I cried. Wouldn’t change a thing and fully plan on reading it again someday. Loved loved loved.

I think I would have really enjoyed this book had I not read The Midnight Library. In fact, this was probably the better of the two, but I was so annoyed by the time travel insights and back and forth I was just reading to finish.

An absolutely stunning book about family/parents, life’s choices, and how we value the time and moments that make up one’s life. Heartwarming and full of concepts that I will be returning to and reflecting on for some time.
