Fast and light read. Don’t expect a SciFi time travel book. This was a tender book that explores a Father & Daughter relationship through past, present and possible futures. Alice, the main character is not satisfied with her current life situation, but she figures it’s as good as it gets. In addition, her father is dying. On Alice’s 40th birthday, she spends a night of drinking alone and ends up waking up on the morning of her 16th birthday. This day is pivotal as it could transform her future and the fate of her father. Through this journey, Alice must also discover what she really wants her life to be as well as have the opportunity to better understand her father and her family.

I loved this. It is promoted as a book about time travel but i had already forgotten that as i was reading so loved the twist when got to it. Loved the relationship between Alice and her dad and her best friend and the choices she was able to make.

DNF. Bored at the half way point and found myself just not caring about the characters

Emma Straub captures so much in this book - the magic of New York City, the invincibility of being 16, the complicated feelings of reaching adulthood and asking, "Is this really all there is to my life?" and of course, the devastating ache of losing someone you love. Yes, this book was sad, but it was also filled with such undeniable hope and joy and love that it felt like the kind of cry that you inevitably need in order to move through the sad into whatever comes next. Until the future ❤️

didn’t expect to stay up late reading this, also didn’t expect to cry my eyes out. This book captivated me

A book about savoring relationships; fathers and daughters…and time travel

I liked it but I didn’t love it. Maybe would have liked it more if I wasn’t thinking about transitions and big choices so much in my own life
