5 stars for Supernatural Academy Year One by Jaymin Eve. This is book one in the Supernatural Academy series. I am loving this series so far. Maddi had no idea she was supernatural until she was dragged to the Supernatural Academy. She doesn’t believe it at first but she doesn’t have anything to lose. I love her character and I can not wait to see what she is going to become. At the Academy she makes friends and meets the Atlantean Five. They are the most powerful in the school with Asher being the most powerful out of all of them . She is drawn to them but none of them seem to know why. No one knows what kind of supe she is but they know she is powerful. I love how Jaymin Eve writes like we are in the story. Maddi is on a journey and I can’t wait to see what is to come for her and her group.
SUPE-r interesting
Jaymin created in intricate world for us to fall into. I do love the “chosen Mary Sue” trope and the soul mates subplot. There are so many twists and turns. More questions than answers at the end of book one.

3.5 stars original idea & love the school & endless possibilities of the world building - that is why I rounded up & higher.
However the writing is juvenile & underdeveloped . Where the world & mythology could be richly developed, was instead poorly rushed, the cursing was lazy, left a lot errors or contradictory issues. So much potential though. Also the author has a penchant for implied reverse harem & only being having one strong-ish female primarily provided for & supported by men. It bothers me that the fmc immediately distanced or sidelined her female friends unless to look pretty or only talk about boys.

Valutazione: ⭐️⭐️⭐️/5.
Davvero molto carino.

I should know better than to watch a tv show or movie then read the book, so yes, I started with Supernatural Academy on Peacock. It was a cute show, and I enjoyed it, so I thought I would give the book a try.
At first, there were a lot of questions, why the names and characters weren't the same, yada yada, but then I got into it, and before I knew it, I was invested in Maddison's story, and wondering why Asher was such a dick, and then I finished year one.
I'm still wondering where the characters in the tv show correlated to the book....

I found the beginning-ish and the end-ish kind of slow, but the rest was interesting and I sped through that.
I think my biggest problem is that dialogue with Maddi is not my favorite. While she's sassy and all, there's something off in the cadence that doesn't work for me. I don't have this problem in other Jaymin Eve novels and, again, I had less of a problem in the middle of the book. I think Maddi's "accepts everything" immediately was also a little strange. I mean, thank goodness she didn't do the whole "I don't believe you" thing for pages on end (I can't stand that) so I'll happily take this instead, but it was like she IMMEDIATELY started to trust people and I'm like...Really? She mostly just believed Ilia from the get-go. I mean, sure, the Clovers were really typical mean girl group, but she didn't question The Atlantean Five or the Clovers. Cool...
My other problem are the time jumps. We get a whole year in this book, but there are several month jumps. While it makes sense to have time jumps, they felt a little too "insert page break" kind of. Like they didn't flow as smoothly I'd like. We also missed some things like Larissa and Rone was a weird time jump that I felt a little robbed of not seeing!
This is one of those books you kind of wish it was a RH, but her and Ash makes sense too. I liked Ash, but I didn't love him. He's in the book for so little that I don't know what to really think of it. He's a little possessive, but it's also his brothers so he's not really worried. They're insta-lust from their connection (1 guess what that means) so...I don't know. Guess we'll see how the chemistry goes.
Otherwise, I found the story interesting. The world interesting. The story of Atlantis is always an interesting topic and having supernaturals amongst humans in hiding is interesting. Since we're at an academy, though, I'm not sure we'll see much of the "world," especially with the Atlantis story the forefront of the arcing plot. However, I'm curious to see what happens.

I love that this in in the same world as the Supernatural Prison series! I was unsure at first, but it is, which is really fun, because we saw Louis! I liked the academy a lot, and that Maddi, the MC, had friends that were female, aside from the guys. I do feel like I have less of a sense of each of them though, in part due to the time skips present. I liked Maddi, and loved her hair (pink is my favorite color) so having her as the MC worked well for me. It was cool to have a magic user MC as opposed to a shifter like Jessa, the MC of the Supernatural Prison series. The plot being based around Atlantis is very interesting, and I'm excited to learn more. I wish there was more detail about her classes and learning to use her powers later on. Good first book of a new series. 4 stars.
This is a new author for me and I have to say I am now a fan!! This book was so well written it kept you guessing and so engrossed in the story. I can't wait to read the next one.
