This is your typical magic academy book at least as far as I've read and I like the tropes often found in these so it was a fun read. I did think there was a bit too much of reexplaining things that had already been explained and it felt a little like the author might've wanted to do an RH novel and chickened out. Still I like Mads and Ash
Usually something like this would be right up my alley but for some reason I wasn’t into it. I was skipping parts and I felt a bit bored. However there were some good aspect to the book. I liked the way the story began and the five Atlantean guys. However, overall this was not a book for me.
Different but a great read
Different from what I normally read but I was hooked from the beginning. Can’t wait to read the next one!!

Review to come, maybe?
Or maybe this is the review.
See, I'm not sure. Not sure about the rating I gave or whether I liked the book. Which is silly, because it was a great story, well written for sure and original enough, and all that. But something is bugging me about it all, and I haven't figured out what, yet.
The romance was alright, the characters were awesome, the adventure was pretty cool, I guess, and the academy parts were good. But I guess I was just waiting for more..? More of everything.
And also, yet another silly thing to mention, but I have a hair-related pet peeve.. In that, I don't like it when books pay huuuuuge amounts of much attention to hair. The color, the length, the magical qualities or whatever it may be.. hair is just hair, and it's rather boring. And this book seemed, at times, very hair-fetishy, even to the extend that. So I suppose that's what kept bugging me.
But again, it was a great book, an awesome story, and all that jazz.

Spoiler
it was the last thing to be mentioned at the very end, as if that was somehow the most significant thing about the whole story and that was the thing we were given to have in our thoughts as we finished reading - hair color!!But again, it was a great book, an awesome story, and all that jazz.
Jaymin eve is one of my favorite authors. Although I didn't enjoy this as much as her other series. Supernatural Academy started off strong and intriguing but the dialogue fell off towards to end for me. A strong three stars but I don't think I will continue with this series.
DNF, this starts with a cliche kid knapping as a plot device to get the heroine where she's supposed to go. Then it gets even more cliche with the heroine just getting over being kid knapped and accepting it all in under an hour.
This is set in the Supernatural Prison world and but it is not at all up to par with that series. There is a lack of character building and worldbuilding throughout. This is a sad disappointment.

I love Jaymin Eve's Supernatural Prison series, so I always get excited when she publishes new books related to the main series.
And Supernatural Academy: Year One didn't disappoint!
Maddison is a 22-year old who hasn't stopped running since she was 17 and witnessed her mother's murder. On the day of her birthday, while she is dying her hair pink (cool right?), a woman finds her and tell her she's not human, and Maddie needs to follow her to the academy for supernaturals. Here she meets vampires, shapeshifters, mages and the Atlantean five. Three mages, a shapeshifter and a vampire who descend from Atlantis. But what catches Maddie's eye is Asher, the Atlantean five leader.
The bitchy squad can't miss in this academy book, but Maddie doesn't let them step on her, always fighting to protect herself and her friends.
Maddie might also fine out that she isn't just a human as she thought. She might be one of the original Atlantean prophesied to save her people and destroy the god Solaris.
I'd recommend this book to whoever loves an academy love romance intertwined with magic and supes. The love story between Asher and Maddie also doesn't happen overnight, but it takes time to build and strengthen.

I normally love Jaymin Eve’s books! But this read more like a tween book for me. I feel like the writing level was quite low, but the main characters are in their twenties and there are some sexual scenes.
I think I’ll stick with her other series for now!
