First of all, I want to be very very clear this was a 3,5 star rating book for me. It was definitely worth more than a 3 star rating, but slightly less than a 4 star one so here we are.
Then, for the book itself, it has some very good things and some things I wasn't as enthusiastic about.
Let's start with the good ones.
I love love LOVE Briggs. Everything about him screams perfect and I just wanted to pull him through my screen and keep him for myself to protect. What a man that is and that's definitely another book boyfriend by Maren Moore. Thanks for that.
What I also loved in this book was the bonds between the characters. Not just the relationship between Briggs and Maddison –and Olive, but also Briggs with the guys, Maddison and the girls, Maddison with her grandma and her best friend Tyler. They're all such great, fantastic relationships and I especially love the bromance the guys have going on. Also, little Olive with her Uncle Graham –melt!
What I also liked, was that Briggs' family by blood wasn't the typical 'they've always loved and supported me through everything' kind of family. It's hard and they're not on good terms, which for me makes it seem more realistic than a whole perfect world where nothing ever goes bad.
Now, for the negative points. Bottom line, I'm going to be very hard here. The first third of the book, the leading characters meet, conceive the baby and then there is a jump forward in time so we don't see anything from the pregnancy –I view this book as a surprise BABY book instead of pregnancy, the second 10 chapters were really slow, not much was happening and what did happen, happened like more than once. It felt like it was a loop of the same happenings all over again and again. The last third of the book got really good. It finally got going, things were happening, and I finally felt like it was my type of book again and the book I was expecting. Maybe my expectations were too high, seeing I loved previous books by Maren Moore. The last part of the book was just really good and enjoyable.
The author could have definitely done more with this book and the story, but overall it was enjoyable, a fast and easy read and I'm still looking forward to the next one.

maddison being the puck bunny was probably one of the worst bonkers story arcs since the reveal of gossip girl, but i digress. briggs and olive were perfect tho (and the only reason this book was worth any stars at all)
She was her, and she had his baby! Omfg crying. This book was so good! And he was so sweet and an incredible dad!

After a whirlwind weekend leaves Briggs and Maddison a surprise they were never expecting they have to learn to navigate co parenting together. But the whole time, Maddison is hiding something from Briggs that could ruin everything.
Daddy. Briggs. I mean come on. Everyone loves a teddy bear and Briggs is all of it and more. I love how instantly he bonds with Olive, it’s so freaking cute! His growth throughout the book is great to watch and he was definitely my favorite part of the book!
I was frustrated with Maddison through most of the book and screaming at her! UGH! Miscommunication is hard for me to read. I understand it in here and can relate to her but the whole mess could have been avoided! (Although there obvi would be no book then

I can totally agree with Maddison: “Daddy Briggs is one thing but Alpha Daddy Briggs? Oh God, I never stood a chance.” This is a hockey romance with surprise pregnancy trope and secret identity, what else can you ask for? I’ve got to say, I liked Briggs a lot more than Maddison but I could understand the decisions she made. Every Briggs and Olive scene made me swoon and the poop scene with the guys had me laughing so much. Not only the main characters are incredible and their chemistry was there since the first minute but also all the side characters, this group has my whole heart and I can’t wait to read the remaining stories.
