Rina Kent—you’ve done it again.

God of War gutted me, then handed me a warm towel and told me I’d be okay.

Ava’s character hit me harder than I could have expected, and I felt so seen by her. As someone who battles major depressive disorder and feels the world with an immersive, empathic heart, I glanced at peek of myself mirrored in her pain. Her use of alcohol to escape, her craving for attention to drown the internal darkness, her "block of existence"—I felt every single word. At one point, I even asked myself, “Fuck?! Do I have a psychosis?” That’s how deeply I felt Ava's story.

When Ava spiraled into her final suicidal episode and demanded a divorce, I felt the hopelessness wash over me like it was mine. But then—her bravery. Her decision to get help. Her acceptance of her illness and her fight to come back to herself because she didnt want to live like that anymore… that was where the healing began. Rina didn’t shy away from the messiness of recovery, and that honesty made their eventual reconnection all the more meaningful.

Their apologies. Their declarations. Their love—it broke me and put me back together.

My only real wish? I wanted more of Eli’s time at university when his obsession with Ava was taking root. We get hints of it in earlier books, but I was ready to see that full unraveling, that slow-burn intensity grow into the devotion that defines him.

Still, this book—and this series—is a masterclass in emotional storytelling. Rina Kent doesn’t just write characters, she builds worlds of wounds and love, and then dares us to live in them.

I didn’t just read God of War—I felt it. And I won’t forget it.

Perfer Eli over Jeremy 💯
Idk how Ava be eating candy floss especially on cake like girl plz.
I would have loved more on the perspective of how Eli fell in love with Ava. I just felt like something was missing to give this a 5 ⭐️ like God of fury & Kiss the villain over all better then God of wrath.

I loved, loved Eli and Ava. They were my favourite! I liked that this author talks a lot about mental health and the struggles that come along with it.  However, I didn’t really like that all the main characters in this series were virgins. Him coming to her room in the hospital every night to read to her 😩 and all the other things Eli does just for her. Ugh!

I always thought that enemies to lovers was my favourite trope. But marriage of convenience is becoming my favourite. The yearning! The slowly falling in love with each other even though they’re already married. Yes! Yes!

Boring

Okay I give this book a 4.5 ⭐️

I think so many people had a made up version of what they thought Eli and Ava were going to be and thought it was probably going to be cute little back and forth and fairytale stuff but then the book came out it was a lot deeper than that. And I think that’s why most people hate it. I could be wrong. (I respect everyone’s opinions and understanding that not everyone is gonna like the same thing and that is okay.)

I personally related to Ava more than anything because being the “ill” person in the relationship you get so frustrated because most people will tiptoe around you and baby you and Eli like my person never pittied her and never made her feel small. He was trying to do everything in his power to help her get better even it was was killing him. Learning her needs and putting them first. And like Ava I understand not wanting to worry the people you love. Their relationship was very hard to watch play out but that’s the point.

Now to the fun parts. I truly enjoyed the cameos from everyone else in the universe. It made me smile so much. It did hurt more that Remi and Ari aren’t getting a book but I wouldn’t want her to force something she didn’t love so I let that go but they are so cute together. Remi still is one of my favorite boys. He made me laugh all the time. I honestly didn’t think I would like this book as much as I did but it really surprised me.
