The mystery was great I liked the romance a lot and it was very well written, but this one is definitely not for the faint of heart. It’s an older contemporary title so there is some very dated language and themes. I had quite a bit of trouble with the pacing in the first 25%ish, but all in all I thought it was pretty entertaining. The stream of consciousness style writing takes a bit getting used to, but once you get to know the characters it’s very dynamic. I’ll definitely be checking out the rest of the series.

This had been on my TBR list since 2011 and I finally read it after joining a Challenge here on StoryGraph to read the 10 books that had been in our TBR list the longest/oldest TBR’s. This was the 1st book in the “FBI Thriller” series, and I don’t think I would have missed anything by skipping this one-as far as understanding future books in the series. I’ve read more recent books in this series and I can gladly say that her writing has improved since this one was published…

Awesome series about a division of the FBI that is very good at what they do.
This book took a while to build up momentum. It finally got good a little over half way. The romance parts were a bit distracting. Overall, not bad for a first book. The characters are likable and you don't see the end coming at all. If you like some good detective/police suspense with a little family drama, this one will get you.

This story is really far fetched and imaginative! It is interesting that she has the FBI agent using a sig-sauer handgun since that is also what my local Decatur, TX police favor!
I think the best way for me to review this novel is to tell my story while reading it.
It was 11:30 at night and I was fully absorbed into the story. There is one point in the story that the main character, Sally, comes home and when she gets into her room she looks out the window into the rainy night. Lightning flashes lighting her dead father's face standing outside her window. At the exact moment the lightning hit in the story, there was a very loud BANG somewhere outside the apartment. The book flew out of my hands and across the room. It took me about fifteen minutes to get enough courage to get off my bed and leave the room. My uncle was still up and I guess I looked as if I had just seen a ghost because my uncle asked me what was wrong. I asked him if he heard the loud bang and he said, laughing slightly, that it was lightning that struck just over the apartment. I never realized that it was raining. I lost track of the time because the story was so intense.
The Cove is one of the best novels I have ever read and is perfect for someone who likes murder mysteries. This story was also perfect to start Catherine Coulter's FBI Thriller Series.
