I don't know why it took me so long to get around to reading this wonderful book. It is heart-wrenching and heart-warming all at the same time. As a child it probably would take me a week or so to read but it took me, as an adult, three hours.

Okay, I wasn’t sure about this but that was a good ending. Some good life lessons.

A fairly simple story about a boy and a dog. I wanted a little more to it, but can't deny that Marty's deep determination to keep Shiloh was both sweet and admirable. I'm curious to discover how this book spawned a series when everything is tied up rather neatly by the end here.

Eleven year old Marty finds a lone dog on the dirt road. When he realizes that the dog is owned by a terrible man who abuses his animals, Marty will stop at nothing to make sure the dog is never hurt again. He struggles with morality as he knows that saving his new friend Shiloh is more important than any law. He lies, steals, & fights to save his new best friend and in the end learns that loyalty is stronger than hate.
