Robinson Crusoe is shipwrecked on a deserted island and must find the means not only to survive but thrive. Fascinating details on how he does it. My only complaint is that the book is a little devoid of emotion. Would have been a little more interesting at times if the author would added some of Robinson's emotions.

It's a classic. Read it once. Then go read something like the Voyages of Captain Cook and enjoy more accurate descriptions of new-to-European islands and their peoples.

I assumed that I read the book as a child, but now I think I only saw it on television, because the book was so much better than I remembered. Much more analytical of the personality.

A tale of survival but also of faith. It pays to be grateful rather than remorseful, it seems
adventurous

In the first quarter of the book there are three shipwrecks, enslavement, a daring escape from slavery, rags to riches to rags to riches, and yet, and yet, totally boring. The book is a classic due to its power to render excitement as its complete opposite.

Really thought I would like this, but there was a lack of character depth combined with long, slow parts of what should have been quite an adventure. The story does give you some idea of what it might be like to live alone on an island.
