Even though I didn't love the first or second one.... or third... as a fan of Laura Thalassa with an inability to leave a series, I continued.

This dragged. Andre v Pluto for Gabrielle... still. So much of this series could have been cut down.

My Rating System:
5 ★ Masterfully created work of art with many strong qualities. Will re-read. Cannot imagine my life without it. Devastated it is over.
4 ★ Solid Work. Enjoyed from beginning to end.
3 ★ Decent with poor execution in some manner. Neutral.
2 ★ Wasn't good but not completely bad. Only 1 or 2 redeeming qualities
1 ★ DNF and/or no redeeming qualities

One word: Soulmate.
Andre is the main reason I stuck this book out.
Gabrielle continues to make poor choices and poor Andre gets stuck dealing with whatever comes at them. I had to put my reader down several times because of her naive and unwise choices. However, Andres dedication, quick thinking and ample assets save the story and Gabrielles ass quite a few times.
Who makes deals with the devil? Who is surprised when the devil will do anything to get her?
Overall good story. Will come back for more.

I kept trying to push through the series because I wanted  to know how it ends but I just couldn't care about the characters so I couldn't get engrossed.

This is like the Deathly Hallows of this series. Our heroine and her lover have been forced to flee, and have been in hiding since. They run into all sorts of supernaturals--seers, a sorceress, Amazons, you name it. There are quests. Deals with the devil are made. We have reached the climax.

And yet, I couldn't stop myself from counting on my fingers how many times Andre refers to Gabrielle as "soulmate". Too many times. "Are you okay, soulmate?" "We have to go, soulmate." "Soulmate, what aren't you telling me?" My god! Stop. We get it. It's too much!
