Could not get into this one, sadly. Not what I thought it was going to be.
The Dark Half is classic Stephen King horror. It's not among his best, but it is a good book. The novel starts off strong, but loses momentum a bit past the halfway mark and has a mediocre ending. For those familiar with King's Richard Bachman pen name, this story is a great horror twist on how King was unmasked. This book takes place partly in Castle Rock and features a few of the same characters that are in Needful Things.

Read the hardcover. Overall an engaging story. I thought at points it was drawn out, with unnecessary conversations or imagery. The ending was cool, but also, I don't think I fully understood it? Not sure if there was deeper meaning than what I did understand. While supernatural in concept, the main scares came from real life horrors. Overall I didn't really get a big spooky vibe from it. That said, I do love King's writing and story-telling.

Like so many King novels, a good premise, a great buildup, and a disappointing ending.
tried to like stephen king because he was an ex's favourite author but i find the way he writes to be tedious and run on too long without adding anything - i'm a fan of classics and they usually manage to do long sentences in a way that i enjoy but i think stephen king is just not for me

George Stark is Thad Beaumont's nightmare, well, at first, he started out as a nightmare. As Thad grew up after having an operation to remove something unusual from his brain when he was 11, and as he became a moderately successful writer and family man, that nightmare manifested itself into Thad's dark half, who was bent on taking over Thad's life and living it as his own. This book was an entertaining book.
