3.5 stars. I enjoyed it but like others have said, not really much happened. I am also struggling with the teenage angst, in other series I find it easier to ignore the fact I'm reading about teenagers and I'm a 42 year old woman but with these books so much seems to revolve around teenage drama/ relationships, I find it harder to relate/ignore. Overall I did enjoy it and I will carry on with the series but after realising that I've read 4 books and only a month has past, I'm hoping the story moves on.

The only problem I have right now is the fact that I have to WAIT for another piece of the story!! I freaking love this storyline and all of the characters! So detailed and enthralling! Love love love!!

For some reason this story is so addicting, but we're 4 books in now and we've only made it like 3/4?? weeks into the school year? And we have a couple weeks to go before Mabon and then a week (maybe) after that to make it to the full moon for their mating ceremony. That's like 3 more books. And then a whole year before their marriage? I can't get behind this slow asf pace. So much is going on with not only extremely detailed minute by minute accounts of each day, but we're also thrown POVs from any side characters available (and there are tons--I don't even remember everyone at this point). And on top of all of that, they're trying out for a musical. I guess it's to break up the monotony of every day being described in such detail, but the story is focusing on anything but the actual plot.

Positives:
I love how Cricket's relationship is evolving with the guys. They're slowly becoming a solid unit and I'm excited to see how they'll grow as a pack in the future (if we ever get there ughhhh).

That ish with Immogen and her pack? Awesome. She put her AND Elias AND Hawthorn in their places in the span of like three days.

Stella's growing relationship with the guys is precious.

I didn't mention it in earlier reviews, but I really love that Cricket and Cas' family speak French with each other. It's a sweet touch that I adore every time it happens.

‼️SPOILERS‼️
Let's have a moment to remember that they swore to never use their alpha voice in their relationship, but only for pack business, but Theo is using it in the bedroom during foursomes? Yikes. That's not sexy. The biggest part of submission in the bedroom is choosing to submit.

I'm also upset for Hollis because on his day with Cricket she decided to do a bunch of other things that included everyone else and then their morning was disturbed for a meeting that could have taken place at another time. It shouldn't be such a big deal, but when the timeline is so short (each book = 1 week) then every moment hold a much bigger impact.

On that same thread, they keep saying things like "we always do/say this" but it's been like two days since the last book where they definitely weren't doing or saying that stuff. And when in the timeline did they ever practice for the musical auditions? Every moment was detailed, and it never happened.

Also I have no idea why no one in this story can communicate. Almost every major issue is because of miscommunication.

Lastly, who tf will end up together? Em/Bren? Bren/Rainier? Bren/Ralph? Ralph/Oli? Rainier/Em? Oli/Rainier? This is killing meeeee. And if Killian and Alice are mates I will scream.

I got about 15-20% through this book when a new book came out from a different author I love, so I put this one on hold to read that. That one took me almost a week to read just because life got busy, and the whole time I didn't really think about this book at all. That put me off a bit, because it made me realise I wasn't that invested in this particular book, and I struggled to get back into it. But around the 60% mark I finally got hooked back in and then was loving it again. It's definitely the kind of series you have to be in the right mood for. It's great if you don't mind lots of fluff but it doesn't have a lot of plot or excitement to keep you hooked.

I also struggled with the beginning because the dialogue from Cricket's guys was just getting so fucking boring and repetitive. It was constant monologues about how much they love her, and I know it's a romance but it got to a point where it was like "jesus okay we get it". The whole bit with Erin ditching Brennan had me rolling my eyes too. Yeah it was shitty of her from their perspective, but the way everyone reacted- especially Brennan- was so over-dramatic and out of proportion to the situation.

Once we got past all of that, there were quite a few positives to this book. I love how many different characters' stories we get to see in this series. It does slow down the pace a lot, but seeing the budding romances between several different characters is almost like getting to read multiple books in one. Sometimes the transitions between storylines can be a bit jarring but the characters are all so lovable it's easy to get hooked into their POVs.

I like that some of the characters are portrayed in ways that break the status quo a bit. Maybe it's just because in the first 3 books everyone was identical in their adoration for Cricket and the guys, but it was refreshing to see Jack have concerns about them being supernatural. It's actually way more realistic for him to react the way he does than for everyone to just be straight up cool with learning about witches and werewolves, even if he is a dick in the way he handles that concern. I also like that Sabrina is kind of this grey area character where she's likeable and nice but still friends with Paisley. It makes her more interesting than just being a one-dimensional bitchy girl. I'm curious to see how her and Paisley's characters are handled in the future. Will Sabrina eventually cut off Paisley? Will Paisley eventually learn to be nice? Honestly I think either might be cheesy and boring, I'd love to see something different again, but we'll see 😅

Another thing I like that I can't remember if I mentioned in previous reviews is the way the guys struggle with sharing a mate sometimes. It's uncommon to see in RH books and I like the way they have to communicate and work through that.

I really love the romances between all of the guys, I feel like we're working towards a possible poly or harem romance between Brennan, Emmerson, Ralph, Rainer and/or Oliver?! I can't wait to see how that all develops.

I super adore Rainer, his story was the main one that kept me hooked in this book. I was so heartbroken and frustrated reading about his experiences in his old pack and am so happy he's finally in Cricket and Theo's

Anyway, after a rocky start to this book I'm back into the series and can't wait for the release of the next one!

In the next installment of Cricket Kendall, we get a glimpse of life right after her birthday party and subsequent engagement (I sure hope you read the last one, or that would have been a spoiler…). At first I wasn’t sure where the story was going… I was wondering what would be the climax… but I quickly realized that the Cricket Kendall series is a wonderful lazy river, with a few swift exciting parts. Ms. Hadley is building a beautiful world and solid characters. This book brought a lot of forgiveness on Cas’s part and a lot of bubblegum sweet talk between Cricket and her guys. In all, I give this a solid 4.5. It’s building up to the Mabon meeting and their mating ceremony. They are building their pack, and I can’t wait to see what happens with some of the auxiliary characters as well- When will Cricket build her support circle, and who will be in it? What will happen with Brennan’s relationship(s) there are a lot of options here. Ms Hadley does a thorough job of being inclusive with her characters. In this installment, we have a non-binary character (briefly) and several gay characters as well-I’m rooting for their relationships just as much as anyone else. This book felt like a settling in of the story, and that there will be larger conflicts in later books. If you need a break from any dark RH story, and need something to help lighten your mood- this series is it. It’s a wonderful palette cleanser.

This series just keeps getting better and better… I am so in love with Cricket and her guys and not to mention all of the side character OMG they are phenomenal. I love that we get multiple POVs and not just from Cricket and the guys NOPE we get them from everyone! I would have to say I am ultra in love with Rainer and my heart broke for him and what he was dealing with, with his so called “pack” F Imogen I cant stand her and Cricket handled the situation like a true Alpha Queen!!! This baby was jam packed with some sexy times that will have you completely swooning and panting and not just from our main characters. *fans self* you get some good hearted friendships, drama of course and some LOL moments. I cannot wait for more of the play and the Mabon festivities. This series really does get better and better with each book like the aging of a fine wine. I need everyone to jump on the Cricket train (pun intended) and read this series you will not be disappointed.

I'm not sure why I like these books so much. The characters are just so silly and sweet, and I find myself grinning while reading them.
