I really liked seeing Amelia and Houston getting to know each other on the journey to the ranch but I didn’t really like how the issue of them getting together was solved.

The journey that Amelia and Houston have to get to the ranch was really interesting and I liked seeing their interactions even after they got to their destination.

I really liked Austin and I definitely want to read his book. Other than him, there was also Dallas, who I didn’t really like, and there weren’t any other side characters, which surprisingly I didn’t really mind.

I didn’t like Dallas with how he treated his brothers as even though he told Houston that he sounds like their father, I thought that Dallas was like him. He wasn’t as harsh but the way he said things or how he acted, still made me dislike him.
SpoilerThe thing that bothered me most about him was that it was clear that he didn’t like Amelia half as much as Houston did, but he never said anything and didn’t really care about his brother enough to even think about not going through with the wedding.

The thing that stopped me from wanting to reread this book in the future is how Amelia and Houston don’t talk about really being together for a lot of this book.
SpoilerI didn’t like that Amelia and Dallas actually married and that if Houston had come 5 minutes later, they would have had their wedding night.

I liked this book and I think I’ll like other books by this author much more as I just didn’t really like how Amelia was Houston’s brother’s bride. I don’t know if I’ll like Dallas’ book as I didn’t really like him in this book but I’m looking forward to Austin’s book.

The writing in this was surprisingly lovely. I still don’t know how I feel about Westerns though, and a confederate hero :/

It has the fact that it is a travelogue novel against it but it features a great pair of self loathing people to enjoy.

Adored this. Great characters who I fell in love with, a heroine who isn't irritating and a sweet story. Will definitely be re-reading this is the future!
