This is the only Harry Potter book that I've only read once so far, which will have to be remedied, of course. Overall, I thought it was a great last installment in an absolutely incredible series. Unlike many people who seemed to complain a lot about Rowling's decision to include an epilogue, I thought it was really interesting. I didn't like that a few of my favorite characters died. The isolation that Harry feels throughout the book reminded me of Frodo in 'Lord of the Rings'.
Finishing this book was very sad for me...these books took me from fifth grade until the summer after my first year in college.

And the 2025 Harry Potter re-read comes to a close.
Fully done with Audiobooks.
I mean... Wow.
I had forgotten how good Harry Potter wise. Stephen Fry (the audio book narrator) was absolutely brilliant and really made the full experience absolutely magical. I've been an emotional mess since finishing this.
The most interesting thing for me was that this was my first re-read of Harry Potter as an adult. I don't think I had give them a re-read since my teenage year (HP7 came out when I was 16/17 and I don't think I've ever re-read this last book actually).
And so, I had very found memories of book 1 to 4, as I had read them... a lot (we are talking easily a dozen of times each). But book 5 to 7... Not so much.
A lot of thing were lost on me then: the subtly of growing up, the different emotional maturity, the absolute sacrifice of Harry's parent. So many things just left me in tears.
Absolute tears.
I'm really glad I've re-read the series. It's been a great look back and I'm really excited to read it to my kids next.
