There was something additionally refreshing about this book: I loved Georgia's refusal to blindly believe the adults in her life; her ability to trust herself beyond her deepest doubts.
"It was something adults said all the time. You'll change your mind when you're older. You never know what might happen. You'll feel differently one day. As if teenagers knew so little about ourselves that we could wake up one day a completely different person. As if the person we are right now doesn't matter at all."
I loved it! I loved her moment with her cousin Ellis, I loved her relationship with Sunil, I loved her unwavering love and concern for Rooney; I just wanted loved the love OOZING around their friendship group:
"Because I love you and you deserve magical moments like that."
THE TEARS!!!!! I AM LITERALLY CRYING AGAIN JUST TYPING OUT THE QUOTE!!!!

It's always great to have some ace representation in media, but in a novel so heavy with other characters having relationships it comes across as mediocre at best. Somewhat forgettable plot as its fairly generic first year of uni tropes minus any school related events
Shakespeare society subplot was nice
The MC's ace cousin was great
Lloyd (if that's his name) is just a background character trying to ragebait people

Moderate: Homophobia, Sexual content, Acephobia/Arophobia
I wanted it to end about halfway through but pulled through because at least Oseman is ridiculously easy to read

Loveless is such a powerful book.
You can feel Alice's fingerprints on every page of this book. It's beautifully honest and self reflective. Whilst it is a novel, it has the aura of a self-bio, and the emotions the writing evokes are raw and real.
I felt the loneliness of struggling to belong, the longing of wanting answers to questioning what is "wrong with you" and the confusion of being young. It was so well written that, at times, it was almost suffocating.
I must admit to struggling with this story, not the fault of the book but my own.
Alice invoked such a strong realism of university life that I was transported to my own time at uni and the many mistakes made. Reliving those memories was uncomfortable, and I found myself unwilling to pick it up after certain events in the narrative.
Seems so silly now that I've finished the book, but I have to commend the writer for evoking such a strong reaction to her book.

4.5 stars
i relate so goddamn much with every characters it's crazy. I love Alice oseman's writing so damn much, their stories are always so great with diversity without it feeling forced. the middle of the book kinda felt flat to me, so I had to subtract a lil .5 stars.
read loveless guys

I have of course read many other books Alice Oseman has graced us with and I think this one may be my favourite. This book is incredibly powerful. It has realistic dialogue and situations which can be super hard to display in contemporary fiction, but Oseman always tends to nail it. This book is very special to me as someone working out their own identity and I found a lot of questions I am asking myself to have been asked and given answers in this book. Please read this book!
