I’m all for hyping up books when I truly enjoyed them, but I’m also not going to shy away from writing a lower review (respectfully, of course).

The positives: This book has some pretty good spice if that’s what you’re looking for. MMMF Reverse Harem

This was such an entertaining audiobook. I loved the full cast narrative. It kept me fully engaged and had me clinging to the storyline.

Our FMC, Scarlett is forced by her father and brother to sign a blood contract into an arranged marriage with a Duke of one of the Elite families. This marriage is to move up their family status and reestablish their wealth since Scarlett’s father pretty much bankrupted them due to her mother’s illness.  Scarlett’s recurrent nightmares have her wondering what’s real and what’s not. Then we have Cain, one of the MMC is the king and is a dream eater. The other two MMCs, Sabre and Cage are vampires in a different world.  Cain, Sabre and Cage are all looking for their mates. This story is complex with different layers. Some even taking part in dream worlds. I was fascinated by the world building and detail given. Such a unique story.

I was intrigued by the plot as well as all the characters. The author did a remarkable job with her writing which easily immerses you into the storyline. The narrators were phenomenal bringing the story to life! I love this was in duet form. One of the best audiobooks I’ve listened to.

This book had me having questions for a little bit until I got to the end where everything fit into place. It was more of a slow burn but kept my attention throughout the whole book. There was always something that happened at the end of a chapter to make me want to keep going. Scarlett, Cain, Sabre, and Cage all have POVs in the book and it turned into a beautiful love story.

This was such an amazing, dark & magical romance.
I absolutely loved the worlds, the characters, the monsters, & the magic.
I absolutely loved Scarlett, she is such a unique character, I love that she is kind, & sweet.
I love her ability to see through masks.
The dream realm & all their ties to it are utterly amazing.
I am absolutely feral for their unique group & their love & devotion to Scarlett.
The intense edge of your seat energy was incredible and non stop.
I can’t wait to read the rest of the series.

What a cast - the audiobook is a solid recommend from me as I love all of these narrators. Zara Hampton-Brown is great as the wide eyed Scarlett who is ready to sacrifice everything to help her mother and Shane East is the perfect growly Apex Alpha, Cain.

The narration really made the book for me as although I did enjoy the world building and the courting customs which were a unique idea, I struggled a little with the characters. Scarlett was a good FMC; I liked how she quietly started embracing her darkness rather than being a total damsel waiting to be rescued. Cain was definitely the most developed of the leads while Sabre and Cage felt a little tacked on and I didn't feel that connection as much as I did with Cain: I could easily have seen this as an M/F to be honest. I loved Sabre and Cage's relationship as well as their backstory but felt they were almost an adjacent plotline separate to Scarlett's as they didn't spend a lot of on page time together. I felt I knew more about Edward's character overall; his plotline was one of my favourites as this was a really good twist on the arranged marriage trope. I was rooting for him (until I wasn't) but his mother was awful. Her scene with Scarlett towards the end was hard to listen to and I was surprised that it wasn't revisited towards the end as it was brutal.

The bonus epilogues have set up the next book and although these are standalone stories, they are interconnected with some cameos from other characters. I'd like to go back and read book one as although it didn't lessen my engagement, I wanted to know more about the ones I did meet.

My interpretation of the star system;
3 stars - I enjoyed it; would read the author again
4 stars - I really liked it; I am invested and definitely want more from this author/series
5 stars - I loved it; I engaged with this book completely until I finished it and it is one I will re-read
