This was well written, though I had a hard time getting into it and it was a long book. I ended up switching to an audio book, partially due to moving and needing to return a physical library book and partially because I kept getting distracted when trying to read it. The characters are vivid, though I didn’t feel super emotionally attached to any of them and would forget about some when the story moved along. It might have been easier to follow along with the physical text but the nonlinear narrative threw me off each time.

This book blew me away with its characterization and in depth analysis of what it means to have a gender. I though it was a non-fiction book for the first portion because of the life like facts that were given. Calliopes transition inton Cal really made me want to give him a hug, because of the awful treatment he had from Dr.Luce. A modern classic, along with the interesting Greek culture that is strongly present in the family.
