Not sure how to rate this one. I think I would have enjoyed it in elementary and middle school, not quite so much now. Although it probably doesn't help that I didn't read the first one in the series.
****5.0****
This was better than the first one. Neil Patrick Harris surely knows how to write an interesting story.
The Second stroty is centered on Leila, the adopted daughter of Vernon's. How she was at the orphanage, the bullying, a key, her fascination towards magic tricks and mystery around her biological parents.
The story is a bit more sophisticated than the first one. There are tunnels that link whole town, secret cryptic messages and the good old Emarald Ring team backstrory. But together the Magic Misfits finds the solution for every problem.
A very enjoyable read. Loved it.
Happy Reading!!!

I loved the first book in this series so much I couldn't wait for the next one.. And I'm not as excited about it as I was about the first one. I still love the way author talks to the reader, I love the fact he teaches them magic tricks and I still adore that it's super interactive and this time kids can learn Morse code - how cool is that nowadays?!
And the plot itself wasn't bad at all.. It was just waaaay too slow for me. And I think that many children could relate to that, too. It started strong, then it got even a bit boring.. So when the finale came, I was.. maybe even glad it's over? It's such a shame, cause I wanted to love it so bad.. But now I don't even know, if I'll continue with this series...

Thoughts:
There isn’t much to say that I didn’t say in my review of the previous instalment. We follow the same characters except this time we a following Leila. She has a sad history. I really felt for her.
We get introduced to a new character. Someone from Mr Vernon’s past. There is an over arching plot that is slowly developing and it has be very intrigued.
One thing I noted in this instalment was the role of Olly and Izzy their character have a lot less development than the other misfits. And their characters don’t add anything or move the plot forward. I kind of wish they weren’t included if I’m being honest but who knows maybe the following books will prove me wrong 🤷🏽♀️
Representation:
Gay (mentor character), POC (side character), Disability - Wheelchair (side character)
Trigger Warning:
Bullying

This was a fun and magical read. It picks up after book 1 and this time follows Leila and we discover more about her and her past as well as that of her adoptive father. Another great book and a series that I find easy to read yet entertaining too.
Nate and I listened to this on audio and the recording was entirely charming. Nate says “This book was really good because it’s about how four people get better lives by joining a club. And I also like how each one of the characters has a different personality and that makes it so the book is more interesting.” Nate wanted five stars - I would probably give it four, but we’re going with his rating.
Gosh, I'm usually so bad with series, but I just could not stand the idea of not immediately diving into this. It was just as outstanding as the first one, if not more, and I spent the entire last 100 pages of it taking turns between gasping and shouting. NPH is a fantastic writer, and he's crafted not only a story of diversity and inclusion, but one of hope and magic, and I'm just so in love.
I adored this book just as much as the first. I loved learning more about the characters and seeing how strong their friendship is.
