David Sedaris has done it again. About halfway through, he lost me, because I felt like I had heard the stories before (maybe I have - I’ve been to a number of his book readings and he does often read new pieces), but by the time I got past the the halfway point, he had me hooked on every word. I laughed out loud multiple times and loved his dry wit.
This is the first time I’ve listened to a David Sedaris book on audible, and I have to say that I really enjoyed listening to him read his own stories. Each essay is about 20 minutes, so it’s perfect for listening between podcasts or in the car.

This was a slow burn but about midway through I couldn’t put it down.
So this was my first book by David Sedaris. Cannot say that I feel I missed out on something that has been lacking in my life, but at least I have an idea now who is (though maybe a bit too much so, I guess).
A little voyeuristic, some funny parts, and others I did not care much about.
Overall, it was a good, fast read.

better than some of his other recent books. I am trying to figure out how I had already heard some of these essays before though...
I don’t think a book has ever made me laugh so hard. I listened to the audio of this, and it is the best way to experience Sedaris. I don’t think I could ever tire of him.
I don't remember laughing so much while listening to an audiobook. Sedaris is a comic genius and Calypso is one of his best. Highly recommend!
Excellent. Sedaris at his best, mostly set not too far from where I now live.
Like catching up with an old friend. Who knew mortality and loss could be so funny? The title story is the best but the book worked best when considered as a whole narrative.
This is typical a David Sedaris book full of funny stories and cynical humor. I laughed out loud on several occasions. I love how his books make you feel as if you are hanging out in a coffee shop with the author listening to his life story. Mr. Sedaris is one of the few people who can get away with narrating his own audiobook well. I am already waiting on a new book by him to come out.
