Lovely story about family and vocation and finding yourself, at last. Hanne seems on the verge of a mid-life crisis. She is working in her hometown after a shocking divorce. And struggling for privacy at her childhood home. And then she begins to connect to others in the community and work on a development project. After that, things begin to change. For better and for worse.
It seems a strange choice to have so many of the main characters be so entirely unlikable. With some rare exceptions, every character brings a particular unpleasantness when they arrive on the page. By chapter 27 I was entirely fed up with Hanna and no longer cared if she found her new life or whatever it was she was looking for.
I also found Hanna's stereotypical Librarian character to be outdated and tedious. Librarians stopped shushing people decades ago, and generally LIKE having people in the library.
However, the descriptions of the towns and landscapes were lovely.

Too slow paced for me. I wanted to love but I found myself not wanting to read this book.
The characters made me want to keep reading! I'm love a small coastal town! I look forward to the rest of the books in the series!

It was the title that caught my attention. Adorable story about an older woman rebuilding her life in her hometown after her divorce. While she’s been back working as a librarian but she has kept a bit of distance because she doesn’t want to be part of the gossip. She finds out about the local council’s plans for her village and how it could devastate them. She suddenly becomes a leader and the community eventually rallies together to save their village. The story includes many delightful characters and I absolutely enjoyed the audiobook.

I have to say the first 75% of the book I was not a fan of Hanna. I thought she was mean, annoying and petty. Even though I knew where the anger came from and agreed with it I would say I didn’t like her at all. Or her mother either. Many times while reading this book I wanted to through it in the dnf pile.
By Chapter 20 neither the story or the characters had grabbed me so I gave up.
