Not Safe For Work

This should have been a banger but man, what a snooze fest

This was supposed to be a BDSM story but the characters mostly have vanilla sex and talk.. and talk and talkandtalkandtalk. Then the rest of the time we’re with Jon at the job that he hates. Wtf is the point if his rich boyfriend isn’t flying him around the world and nobody is getting tied up?!

The conflicts in this book are 100% avoidable if someone would just tell Jon that 1) student loans exist and 2) if you don’t want to get caught, don’t do it on camera. The way the workplace issue was resolved was really cringey and gave me secondhand embarrassment

This was really sweet and kinky and I had such a good time!

I really enjoyed the main characters (I would have really like to have Rick's POV as well though), I really enjoy how L.A. Witt writes mature MCs and how well rounded they were, especially Jon.

As always the BDSM rep was really good.

I only had an issue with how Jon's bosses decided to deal with finding out about Jon and Rick's relationship, I really don't get how they thought that that would work out in their favour

The narrator (Nick J. Russo) made this book so freaking enjoyable!

I’ve seen LA Witt’s name so much, this is my first read by her. I don’t love workplace romances because the dynamics are yikes, which came to bear in a whole wild way in this one.

But I did enjoy two older MCs, good relationship with exes, casual bi rep, and pretty strong communication especially around D/s relationship, and seeing both top drop and stopping a scene when the sub needed it even if he didn’t say so.

I mostly liked the writing but something felt like it was slightly lacking. Not sure what but I’ll probably give Witt another shot to see if it was the workplace setting that threw things off.

This started out good and then felt like it dragged on until about the last 20% of the story. A few scenes felt a bit unnecessary to me. I’m usually okay with a ton of sex scenes but I felt as though quite a few of the ones in this book were just there for the sake of having them there and didn’t progress the story in any way. The ending ended up saving this book for me at least enough to bring my rating up a little bit. Had it not been for the end of the story I would have given this book a 2.5 stars or lower

Loved this. Not sure why it took me so long to get to it. Hot hot hot. Loved the dynamic between MCs. high recommended. Up next, the audio. Can't wait!
