So much more than a hockey romance. Our main female character, Birdie, finds out she was abducted and moved to Canada as a little girl by the woman pretending to be her mom. Birdie reconnects with her family and friends after her abductor dies. The book has pro hockey player romance with a lot of spice. I liked seeing all aspects of Birdie’s life including her best friend Micky.
I'm reading this on audiobook and the female narrator is not great (a lot of valley girl speak?). I put the audio book on 2x speed, but I still don't htink I can get through this.
The abduction plot is interesting, but it really seems like that deserves an entire book of its own (unpacking trauma and healing) - it doesn't fit well into a spicy hockey romance.
