The storyline was good but it felt rushed! The spicy scenes were a little on the cringy side however. Those also felt rushed to me.

The first book of the Lakes Hockey Series, and the book to get me out of my Romance rut! I fell in love with this series from this very first book. The biggest reason why I love this series so much is because the spicy parts are perfectly paired with an intelligently and creatively written plot.
This book features Birdie, who was unknowingly kidnapped as a child, and Lonan, a hot hockey player who Birdie grew up with and who always had a crush on her. The pain of Birdie’s kidnapping is eloquently portrayed from Lonan’s perspective; he is still close with her family so we see how her kidnapping has affected not only Lonan, but both her parents and her brother.
Birdie grows up with an awful woman, who we later found out murdered her own child and kidnapped Birdie as a stand-in (they looked eerily similar to one another). Her “mother” tells her that her family didn’t want her and gave her up. At the beginning of the book, her “mother” dies, and she decides to take a DNA test to potentially find her family. The results lead her to a webpage begging for any information the public might have that could help bring Birdie home. Birdie decides to go find her family, and the night before she is reunited with them, she meets a hot hockey player in a bar and has the best hookup of her life. Who is it, but Lonan Burke, who she finds out the next day is the boy she had a crush on growing up, who gave her her first kiss. The rest of the story is about Birdie grappling with this new life of hers, and Lonan making her feel both safe and independent enough to fall in love with him.
