I very vaguely remember this one from childhood, so I thought why not read it again? It's a fun story about two children who run away and live in an art museum. There's a mystery as well, with them trying to figure out whether or not a new obtained statue was sculpted by Michelangelo himself. Original story, fun for kids.

You know, I’ve recently read a few books where the main characters read From the Mixed Up Files and nearly all of them found Claudia to be insufferable.
After rereading this book, I have to say I get it. Why is she like that? Very hard to root for, I have to say. Jamie is cool, though, so points for that.

I just re-read this book with my 8 year old daughter and it is a true classic! Two kids running away and hiding at the Met in the late 60's, how brilliant and exciting. The back and forth between Claudia and her brother Jamie is hilarious, sibling rivalry for sure, but you can tell that they do love each other, unconditionally. A great book, I'm so glad I read it again as an adult and a parent. Great book.

I read this as my "Newbery Winner" for the two book lists I'm working through. I remembered loving it as a kid because I was fascinated with the idea of living in the museum. I didn't remember much else about it, except having read it in school--possibly in 4th grade. The most interesting thing about it from an adult perspective is the POV, which shifts from 3rd person with many asides to Saxonberg to 1st person once Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler appears in the story.

Fun vacation read w the girls. I loved it more when I was young - seems slower now, but they adore it.

I read this book when I was younger, and just re-discovered it. Loved it just as much as I remembered. A great read for anyone, especailly if you would like to have an adventure in a museum.

This book is really cool. The kids live in a museum, and it's cool how they sleep in the museum too.
