I’ve been making my way through Christina Lauren’s backlist & have yet to be disappointed ❤️

Sometimes I need a good old love story. This one was a little like a Hallmark movie with sex.

Tate turns 18 and goes to London with her Nana to celebrate graduation and moving into adulthood. She meets Sam, 21 year old, who is traveling with his grandfather. They fall for each other. Tate trusts Sam with her biggest secret- who her dad is. Events occur and Tate’s heart is broken.

Fast forward 14 years Tate is a successful actress going to shoot a big movie on location. Little does she know her past is going to catch up with her... Sam.

I liked it for the ease of reading, and the chemistry between characters.

The one thing that I didn’t care for was Tate and her dad’s relationship- I wanted Tate to be more verbal at the end of the book and call out her dad’s past and present behaviors.

This was a lot heavier than I was expecting from this author duo. Everything I've read up to this point have been Romcoms. This one will really pull on your emotions.

I viewed this more as a woman's fiction story instead of a romance. Only because it wasn't the romance that was the draw for me this time. Tate's character is what really had me pulled into this story.

Tate has lived a very sheltered life, falls in love for the first time at eighteen years old, only to be immediately betrayed by that love. Tate’s struggle after that betrayal had a domino affect in her life. In fact it seems a lot of the women in this book have dealt with similar betrayal. It’s hard not to be effected by what they all have been through.

When we first meet Sam, I adored him. His betrayal hit hard and felt morally wrong no matter the good reason he had to do it. I never really recovered the romance in the story after that. Part of that is I also didn't feel that Sam every truly earned her love back. Usually this would ruin a book for me, but I actually still very much enjoyed this book.

That really says something about the writing if I can overlook the lack of romance that I initially read the story for. This is why it came off more as a womens fiction book. I really am a fan of the writing from this author duo. I think I could enjoy anything they write. I look forward to what they bring us next.

This book was not just awesome it was based in my home town where I grew up!! Guerneville?!? WHAT?? Larks drugs, El Molino high school, river?? This is my land. It was so trippy. I was literally sitting on Johnson’s beach in guerneville reading this book. It was the coolest thing EVER! Now for the rest...Sam. Swoooon. I loved all the twists and turns. Past to now. Intricacies of a daughter-father relationship that is so extra I felt bad for everyone. Selfish behaviors that were made for good reasons and some just selfish. It was an angsts little gem of a story that I could not put down. As always with Christina Lauren j absolutely loved it.

I loved this book SO much, not only for the amazing second chance love story but also because it was set in my hometown. Reading about Guerneville, the Russian River, Lark's Drugs...I could not contain the perma-grin that was attached to my face whilst reading this one. This dynamic duo always delivers for me. I have yet to read a book of theirs that doesn't keep me connected and smiling the entire time. I highly recommend not only this one but ALL of their stories.

Extremely unlikable characters.
