У меня есть правило: если мне очень не нравится книга какого-либо автора, то я даю ему ещё один шанс. «Война миров» - это мой второй шанс Герберту Уэллсу. Первым был «Невидимка». И если в «Невидимке» мне очень не хватило раскрытия человеческих отношений, человеческих эмоций, то в «Войне миров» с этим чуточку лучше. Хоть иногда получалось сопереживать герою. Но в целом все же это далеко не лучшее произведение, которое я читал. Хотя, конечно, допускаю, что для своего времени оно могло быть прорывным и невероятным.
В целом, если не почитаете, то не много потеряете.

I can appreciate all this has done for science fiction, as well as its literary genius, but I don’t think this was for me! However, it was still a fun, Halloween read:)

i wouldn’t go so far as to say that i have particularly enjoyed reading war of the worlds, although i can appreciate the novel for the classic it is. what i have enjoyed however is the manner in which i read it. i have recently discovered an app called Serial Reader which lets you read classic novels in small, bite-sized chunks delivered once a day for a set period of time. after greatly enjoying the 2019 war of the worlds mini series, I convinced my parents to join me on this little literary adventure. unfortunately this is a rare instance where the show felt VASTLY superior to the novel. so no, i probably won’t miss reading war of the worlds but i will miss complaining about it with my family

I like the insight it gives on how an ordinary person would react to a threat so powerful. The plot was engaging and leaves you always wanting to know what happens next. I love how much the narrator obviously loves his wife.
