Well what can I say? A marvelous novel about the importance of family in tough positions. Really, the Joy Luck Club wasn't just a group of people playing mahjong together. These people all had stories behind them. stories that I thought didn't exist when I saw with the American eye as Jing-Mei Woo did when she took her mother's place in the Joy Luck Club. Because of the ongoing tales of stories past. ignorance fades. A name is just a name until you see the story of that name.

A beautiful book that led to a beautiful movie.

I inherited this novel from my older siblings over a decade ago. We have read this novel multiple times at different stages of our lives, and we find some comfort in what we reread. It has a permanent place in my private library.
