I enjoyed the changing perspectives between mother/daughter - past & present, & seeing each of the mother/daughter relationships. The ending really pulls on your heart strings.

i hated this book for years cuz i hated my english teacher in high school. i read it on my own time earlier last year, and it was a totally different experience cuz i didn’t have someone glaring at me telling me that i suck at argumentative essays.

other than that, i love this book and the characters. an-mei/rose and suyuan/jing-mei are my favorite parent/daughter combos.

Eight years ago, when I read The Joy Luck Club for the first time, I really liked it but I didn't understand it fully. Now that so many things have changed and with all the traumas and family separations I have experienced, I see this book in a new light.

Listened to this as an audiobook through Libby and it was read by the author herself, which was very pleasant to listen to.

I enjoyed the four different mother/daughter combos, the varied but similar experiences and how it all came full circle in the end.

Enjoyable enough but nothing remarkable.
