Cheesy teenage romance with some time travel

This book is a great YA read that feels like a story you’d see made into a Netflix teen movie some day. It is basically an updated “13 Going on 30” with a 17-year-old protagonist who time travels *with* her sworn enemy…who just happens to be her husband in the future.

This book is EXACTLY what you expect it to be. This could be a good or a bad thing depending on the reading experience you are looking for. I enjoyed that it was a quick and breezy read at just under 300 pages with short chapters. I ended up finishing it in only 2 days. The story kept me hooked to want to see how all the time travel and relationship drama would work out, and I enjoyed the enemies to lovers plot.

The short length of the book also works against it, though, because I wished more time was spent on Charlotte and JT in their 30’s. I would have loved to see a bit more cute relationship moments there, but the time travel bits got in the way.

This book doesn’t have a lot of deep messages, but it is a fun, quick YA read that I would still recommend (as does Mindy Kaling based on the intro).

Such a cute & fun read! It gave me the vibes of an early 2000s rom com movie, plus I love “13 going on 30” and this book felt like a new version of it!

This was my first time reading Amy Lea, and I will be definitely checking her other books

I loved this cozy, entertaining read, a true page-turner. If you've read the blurb, you know it's one that will make you stop in your tracks and take notice. If you haven't, the book is about 17-year-old Charlotte and Renner- arch rivals- and after a fall from a ladder wake up as 30-year-old. And the worst is yet to come. They're engaged to be married in a week. Together, they try to wrap their heads around their new reality while trying to get back to age 17.

Love can happen in many ways, and I'm in love with the new trope if (I can call it that) created in this story. Of course, it's rivals to lovers, but the authenticity of these characters melted my heart unexpectedly. And it's not just the love between Charlotte and Renner, but the understanding of relationships over the gap of 13 years. This book could very easily have used the plotline on the surface lever, but I appreciate the way Amy Lea dug deep into underlying emotions.

As I mentioned, there is an emphasis on family and friendships, which is a pure delight! Charlotte being our POV character, we saw more of her dynamic with her divorced parents and complex relationship with her best friend.

Charlotte and Renner's ever evolving bond made for some great banter and amazing conversations. I love how they both complement each other and bring out the best in the other. All the amazing tropes plus everything you need in a rom-com rolled into one book. I can't do anything more to convince you to read this book, but please do coz its PERFECT!!

Felt like a mash up of "13 going on 30" and never have I ever. It was a little predictable, but heartwarming and cozy. It was a nice palate- cleansing read.

This is such a fun read! I finished in a day and a half and had a smile on my face for most of the book. I LOVED Thirteen Going On Thirty and felt the same way about this sweet, enemies to lovers story. So many of the scenes took me right back to high school, prom, first kisses, senior lock in, and all those pivotal life moments that feel so immense at the time. I loved each of the characters and felt that they were so realistic and relatable that I could easily identify the Kassie, Nori, and Ollie of my own high school friend group. As a secondary teacher, I love this for young adults who are navigating all those feelings. This is another of the @mindykaling book picks that I have enjoyed so much!

13 going in 30 but for 2!

I loved the book.

I wish Charolette hadn’t taken EVERY opportunity to not communicate bc the ending of this book could have been even more satisfying.

JT was utter perfection. No notes.

I loved that their banter and the rivals vibes. And it got even better when they were adults. And the little nods to 13 going on 30, back to the future and freaky Friday had me giggling so hard.

Highly recommend! It felt fresh and nostalgic at the same time which is no small feet.

Good concept kind of childish
