Ten poziom absurdu (choć całkiem realistyczny) nie jest dla mnie.
Główny bohater jest kobieciarzem, co mnie niesamowicie irytowało.

I don’t think I liked this book for the right reasons—I only really enjoyed it when I was chuckling. I vacillated between hating the legalize arguments and enjoying their contradictions. An excellent book at making you think you understand what it’s trying to get at, only for it to be exactly that, and the subversion being that it was actually still rewarding and engaging to read 10 pages repeating the same contradiction. Haunting ending.

I really enjoyed the Metamorphosis and had high hopes for this one. I appreciate its literary merit but it was just not for me.

It’s not the at easy to rate a book that is such a staple of modern literature and was reviewed, interpreted and analyzed so many times.
I listened to the audio version, which from time to time really was a challenge because so much is going simultaneously. Kafka was a genius, I don’t think that’s much of a debate, and the way he describes absurd situations, places and dialogue is so unique and honestly quite entertaining.
I was really entertained by some of the scenes, others left me confused or even disturbed. It’s in the nature of the book, that Kafka never finished before his death and exists in different editions concerning the order the chapters are in. It’s confusing! But it’s fun.
I won’t go into all the ways the book can be interpreted because there are enough people that are much more capable to do so. Being in a situation that feels overwhelming and unclear myself makes me feel empathetic to K, although he’s such an unlovable character. And that’s enough for me at the moment. I might have to read it a couple more times to fully grasp its story (if that’s ever possible)!
