It’s more interesting from a cultural point of view and less a plot story.

From page 112 onwards, this is a four star book.

The first 112 pages however are unforgivably boring and inconsequential.

This is certainly a good book for a discussion group. So many topics to address. Imperialism, Patriarchy, Missionaries, respect of other cultures, customs, ignorance, knowledge, and lots of others.

I had to read this for school and so I didn’t like it as much as a book I read on my own. I also thought the ending was depressing and that’s not something I look for in books but it was a good example of African writing.
