What a great conclusion to an amazing trilogy! I am so sad to say goodbye to these characters. I really loved so many of them in this trilogy. This was a fitting send off to them with plenty of action and emotion. Lia gets to really flex her muscles here as the rightful heir to the throne and we get to see Avery and Finnian find their place outside of the castle they have been sheltered in their whole lives. One of my favorite parts of this series is how likable all of the side characters are and they all get great development in this book! Emilia is a queen at expertly writing villain POV’s. She made me absolutely loathe the villains in this series unlike any other.

This was a great conclusion to a really fun series. If you are looking for your next epic fantasy adventure then check this series out for sure!

I really loved this book!  I would definitely say that this book is one of my favorite reads of 2024.  I really enjoyed how the overall storyline of this series progressed from the first book to this last one, and I think each book got better and better.  I think this series is a perfect example of the type of fantasy books that I prefer to read.  It is filled with action and adventure but it also has a good amount of romance as well as a cast of characters that you can't help but adore and they form this tight-knit found family dynamic by the end of the series that I always love so much.  I like how in this book, in particular, you have these epic battles and moments of political scheming, but the author also leaves time for lighter moments and celebrations.  I also appreciated how things didn't come easy for the characters, and you get to see them fail at times because it makes it all the more satisfying when they do succeed and defeat the villians.  And it was so satisfying to read the downfall of all the villains, and it definitely felt like it was earned after everything that occurred in the series.  I really loved the progression of Lia and Jace's relationship from the first book to the very ending and it was nice to see some happier moments for these two considering everything they faced over the course of the series.  I also enjoyed the other pairings in this series as well, Avery and Gage were especially cute, I do wish there was a bit more of them but the bit we got from them was kind of adorable.  I think Gage, in general, is kind of this adorable best friend character, so I thought pairing him with Lia's sister, Avery made sense and was kind of cute.  Overall, this series was so much fun to read, and it is definitely one that I can see myself rereading again.  I am adding this author to my must-read list, and I am definitely going to be keeping an eye out for any future projects she might have planned because I enjoyed this series so much. I highly recommend giving this series a try because it is such a fun read from start to finish!

If you’ve been following this series from the start, you’re in for a satisfying conclusion. Emilia Jae wraps up her fantasy trilogy with all the elements that fans have come to love: intense action, complex characters, and great romance. The stakes are higher than ever, and Jae doesn’t hold back as she brings her story to a blazing, emotional finale.

One of the highlights of this book—and the series as a whole—continues to be the multiple POVs. I find the POVs of the villains especially interesting. Kellan’s perspective is as twisted and fascinating as ever, and while I still can’t stand him, it’s undeniably entertaining to see the world through his eyes. The Queen, who has always been a formidable force throughout, gets some surprising depth as well. Her backstory provides glimpses into her motivations, making her just a bit more sympathetic, even as she remains a powerful adversary.

Veli is a personal favorite of mine. She’s the exasperated friend who’s completely fed up with everyone’s impulsive decisions and youthful recklessness. Same, girl, same. I found myself relating to her more than any other character, and her voice adds a sharp, often humorous edge to the story.
The dynamics within the rebel group are wonderful. There’s a real sense of teamwork in how they tackle each challenge, and it’s clear that each character brings their unique strengths to the table. Watching Lia, Jace, and the rebel court navigate their alliances and betrayals, and form new bonds was everything I wanted from the found family trope.

Of course, the heart of the story is the romance, and Jae does not disappoint in delivering a satisfying arc for both the main couple and the side characters. There’s a beautiful sense of growth. The chemistry between the leads is palpable, and their love story feels like a well-deserved reward after everything they’ve endured.

Overall, this is a fitting end to a series filled with action and heartache. If you’ve been invested in Lia’s journey to reclaim her throne and fight for her realm, you’ll find plenty to love in this final installment.

Thanks to the author for the opportunity to read and review. This review is based on a complimentary pre-released copy and it is voluntary. All opinions are my own.

The vibes of the series:

* witches
* shadow magic
* sentient forest
* multiple pov’s
* wyverns

My thoughts:
Book 3 was full of action, scheming, and heartfelt moments. A fitting end for the trilogy. It’s a big feat to pull all the strings of big fantasy stories together, and Em did a good job with a satisfying end. Some of the writing was less complex than book two, but it was all still enjoyable. I would have liked to see less spicy scenes and even more action, but I know that a lot of readers probably really enjoyed that part of the main characters’ relationship. Love, love, love the way that the chosen family of rebels is written and their relationships with eachother. The characters are the best part, and I will always choose a book with well written characters over ones I can’t connect with. The characters are just 🤌. Also the banter, as always, was ace! Overall, a good end, if a little predictable. Em shines in her strong characters and most especially in her female main character - Lia. One of my forever fave fmcs!

A phenomenal end to a fantastic trilogy!

I'm really bad at writing reviews, but the end of this story was perfect in every single way. This series is one of my favorites, and I'm so emotional about the final book- and it was everything that I wanted.

I loved getting to know all of our POV characters deeper- and watch the relationships grow.

Em is a PRO at writing battle scenes and moving lots of pieces to give us the overall view- but without losing the actual human aspect of war. As much fun as the book is, we also feel the losses the characters suffer.

10/10, no notes, you should read it.

✨ ARC Review - A Throne of Wings and Ember ✨

Thank you @ems.bookish.realm for the opportunity to read this ARC of the stunning finale to The Forbidden Heir series.

I loved the found family created out of the desire for a better realm and the unwavering devotion to their rightful Queen. I was excited to see the growth of each of our rebels and reading from their POVs. The raw honesty between each of these characters was so refreshing and unique. There was so much edge-of-your-seat action laced with moments of sweetness and laughter. The banter between Lia and Jace was fun and dare I say sexy at times (hello naughty mental bond). But what I loved most is their trust and love for each other. I’m sad to say goodbye to them and the rest of the rebel court.

I highly recommend if you love:

This is just the perfect epic conclusion to what has been one of my favorite series I have ever read! A Throne of Wings and Embers brings The Forbidden Heir Trilogy and Lia's journey to a close, and Emilia Jae could not have done it in a more perfect fashion.

The story is paced brilliantly, packed with so much action, emotion, and edge-of-your-seat moments that truly have you fearing all is lost for our beloved queen and her court of rebels. But despite all of the danger and fraught "how will they make it out of this?!" moments, the banter between Lia, Jace, and all of the unforgettable supporting characters is there to give you the kicking your feet and giggling reprieve you need! This book does a great job of balancing the lighthearted and devastating moments. And the truly morally black villains are despicable and hateful in the best possible ways! It isn't often you get irredeemable characters, and it's honestly so refreshing.

I cannot let everyone's favorite wyvern, Nox, go without a mention! He is the sassiest, fiercest, goodest boy, and he's a scene -- and heart! -- stealer for sure.

I cannot recommend the entire The Firbidden Heir Trilogy enough! If you've read all of the popular romantasy series that everyone loves to rec (you know the ones), then you will love TFH Trilogy AND get to support an amazing indie author, too!

Whew! What an end to this trilogy. There was action and adventure from the drop, and I screamed into Em's dms starting at about 10%. Lots of twists and turns to keep you engaged and lots of satisfying closure for characters and plotlines. I appreciate that Lia doesn't always get things right the first time (or second), but doesn't give up and keeps pushing for what is right in her realm. Em writes in a way that let's you know exactly what is happening and so very easy to consume (or devour). Can't wait to see what she does next!

Thanks to Em for an eARC of this book for an honest review!
