After seeing the Netflix series, I decided to pick up the book. It matched pretty nicely and felt very similar in plot besides the character differences.
I enjoyed the mysterious, creeping effect I felt when I knew that Trisolaris would be at earth in 4 centuries.
I wished there would have been more interaction or plot with the aliens. Yet, at the same time the author did a good job leaving some things unfinished in order to encourage readers to continue in the series. I will not be continuing the series, but I enjoyed the read.

Elegantly written, brilliant in its use of cultural revolution history, and its vision for science is immersive and detailed. While it stirred, it did not awaken the feeling I get when I read some of Orson Scott Card or Asimov. Will update to five stars if I start feeling this sense of opening and human existence heart churning.
