Book was fine. Didn’t really have much character or plot development.
All the reviews talk about how Nick Mason is the best new character and all that. This genre must have some lame characters then, ‘cause Mason is the whiniest anti-hero I’ve read this side of Rick Flagg.
I love a good detective story and this thriller has a great story. This is book #1 with many more to come. Nick mason is an ex-con released early from prison because of a powerful man that now owns him and watched his every move. When the phone rings he must do what is asked of him or his life will be no more. He traded one prison for another but this new prison has excitement and intrigue. Will nick continue this contract, will he free himself, will he be able to protect the life he left behind the first time he went to prison, will he be able to protect the new life he is building? What a great book to read and enjoy like a guilty pleasure movie.
