Oh.

Was  uncomfortable with the whole pendant situation near the end though. I still don’t know what to feel abt that.

This is a quick fun read.  I am really enjoying monster romances. Sol makes a bargain with the demon to try to find a human bride to give him a child.

Briar makes a deal with the demon for 7 years in an effort to get away from an abusive partner

This book is spicy and Sol is a dirty talker.

I think monster romances aren't necessarily for me. I certainly didn't hate this story -- the characters were cool and I actually really liked the dynamic between the two love interests, and the sex scenes generally were spicy and fun -- but man, the dragon-man thing really would pull me out of it - haha! It just distracts me, I guess.

I did enjoy the element of the heroine healing from an abusive, traumatic relationship -- I can unfortunately personally relate to that, and to the wild notion of being able to truly, genuinely feel safe with a man and being shocked to feel that way. But since it was a novella, that element wasn't explored quite deeply enough to be super profound, for me personally.

Hear me out, I absolutely love Katee Robert and I know her books do not disappoint on many levels. I was not expecting this much fluff in a book about a dragon with a very specific anatomy. It is so, so heartwarming, so adorable, so soothing. Them trying to communicate as best as possible was also a relieve! They handled their situation with as much maturity as they could given their own backstories/past. Great sex scenes, also.
My only critic: the plot is based on a deadline, a specific deadline for their relationship. And I thought that considering this deadline, the relationship could be built a little bit slower. I would appreciate more moments of them getting to know and fall for each other.

the perfect relaxing erotica for people who like monsterfucker material.

my main gripes are more to do with personal preference - the type of romance and kink in this story have elements focused on
territorial possessiveness with a strong emphasis on exclusivity and monogamy between Sol and Briar - “You belong to me”, “I’ll kill whoever touches you” yada yada.
which just isn’t my cup of tea.

the sex scenes go hard though. love it.

I wasn’t expecting this to be as soft & sweet as it was but I thoroughly enjoyed myself and can’t WAIT for the next one!

My favorite monster romance! Sol is a sweet and honorable dragon that takes a woman, who was abused in her first marriage, to be his wife.
