There wasn't really enough time in this book to make me care about either character especially given that a good chunk of the time is dedicated to the explicit scenes which were, I guess, fine. 

The ending was not only meh but felt extremely rushed. I also really did not enjoy the overprotective/possessive male love interest thing going on here. I cannot tolerate that shit in real life, and it's only slightly less intolerable in fiction unless both characters are like that an equal amount, but this book was just so easy to read I kept pushing through despite that. 

I don't love the writing style either though. The choice of first person perspective definitely wasn't helping, but overall this kind of just read like something I'd have to read from a classmate in a creative writing class but more explicit. 

It was readable, is my main point.

Intrigued by the possibilities of this world and always love Robert’s brisk writing style, but ultimately, the story between these characters lacked meaningful tension. The spice is intense, maybe a 4/5, and turns out, I’m not into sexy dragons or consensual non-consensual relationships

This was fun for what it is! I enjoyed it, as it was exactly what I was in the mood for. Definitely some TW but it was a fast read. My first monster romance!

It's also about overcoming trauma and abuse, so it's not just monsterf****ing.

But it's mostly about intercourse with a well endowed dragon-man.

Which is fine. The sexscenes are hot and the worldbuilding is decently intriguing.

So, narrowly dodging spoilers, this is not a fade-to-black romance. This is not a beast-turns-conveniently-human fantasy. This is a romance that actually is what it says—she’s sleeping with a dragon. Still here? Not fleeing at breakneck speed? Okay, here’s your spoiler

the dual cock sex scenes are extremely well written, but ye gods it is impossible to listen to this audiobook in public. Massive respect to Katee Roberts AND the narrators. Color me scandalized but impressed.

Hands down, my favorite part of the book is the contrast between her past with abuse and her current situation where her needs are prioritized. Deftly and thoughtfully handled.
