This book made me ugly cry on two occasions. One of the most healing books I’ve had the pleasure of reading.
Pretty good. Kind of rambling, in that she kept leading me down twists and turns, various tangents, until I forgot the original point and wasn't quite sure where the stream of consciousness was leading. Sometimes this would lead to insightful little nuggets, thoughtful gems either as conclusions or parceled out along the way; sometimes it felt more like meandering to nowhere special. In essence: it was exactly like heading off into uncertain territory and getting lost, with both the aimlessness and special wonder that entails.
This would be better to read while traveling or on a journey, I should have saved it for that.

I'm a little obsessed with Ms. Solnit of late, and this didn't disappoint. This collection of thoughts and stories is lyrical and meandering - too personal to be a Big Treatise on the idea that to find yourself you need to lose yourself, but that's just fine, because the anecdotes are always so lovely and thoughtful.

This might be described as stream-of-consciousness essays.
A few of the images and points will stick with me, so worth the read but not an author I would seek out again.

Read this for a creative writing course - we were supposed to read the whole thing, which I obviously didn’t xD allt va för långdraget imo, I found myself skipping or rereading the same sentences forEVER and still not grasping it xD some things did hit home for me though, and I’m super grateful for the theme of “maybe it’s not too bad being lost?” lo cual llevo conmigo 🫶🏼 me ha ayudado mucho, thank you 🫶🏼🫶🏼🫶🏼
I just don’t think I’m the right audience for essays. But I’m glad to see that I’m probably in the minority on that one. I think these essays can really help a lot of people. Cause even if I skimmed it and only read a few percent, it helped me :)
