This book was soo fun to read!
It was very light, silly book that kept me wanting more. It was super cute and cozy, and I loved that it wasn't serious at all. If you're reading a lot of heavy books or dealing with a lot of heavy things in your life, this book is great to just relax, completely unwind, and detach yourself from your problems.
The characters were and story were just overall super entertaining! I would definitely recommend this book.

This book is gonna be one I will definitely re-read!
I started reading this book curious to identify the differences between Studio Ghibli's movie adaptation and the original story that the book is based on, and see which one I liked more. But I'm glad to say that both the Miyazaki movie adaptation and Jones' story are distinctive and amazing in their own way, and both of these are gonna be some of my favorite media.
I loved everything about the book, my favorite being our main character Sophie and her personality. Her scenes were always full of humour and her interactions with other characters, as well her character development throughout the story was great. Not only Sophie but I feel like all the characters just adds a lot of life to the story, everyone was well fleshed out.
Spoiler That said, I was hoping for some more backstory about the Witch of the Waste and her history with Howl.

And the story and plot progression itself had a good pacing and it had enough elements of mystery to keep me engaged, and the ending was fantastic.
Something I always want in a good fantasy book is a good ambiance, one that makes you feel like you're right there in the story with the characters and I feel like the writing in Howl's Moving Castle definitely achieved that, it just gives you all the cozy, whimsical as well as some grim vibes while you're reading.
Now I want my own copy to annotate this while I re-read it and I'm gonna go re-watch the Miyazaki adaptation.
