It has come to light that the author has been pretending to be a POC, so maybe don't support her!!!
I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
Great premise, but this fell unbelievably flat. I found myself bored, everything was very surface level. It wasn't "enemies to lovers" so much as it was.... well idk what it was honestly. There were multiple inconsistencies and plot holes, and just awkward moments. The FMC was manipulative and just kind of mean, not to mention the fact that she literally assaulted him because she was jealous of his success??? I was with her a bit, when she was explaining it but then she assaulted him and blamed him for her being canceled? Absolutely not. The characters fell flat and tbh I'm not sure why some of them were there? It just was. Not my cup of tea at all.

There was a lot to love about this book from the characters themselves to the blending of horror, romance, and comedy. I loved the mix of humour within a creepy castle atmosphere - it was a scene well set and I'm hoping to read more like it in the future.
I did struggle with a few things though that keep me from giving a higher rating. The amount of internal dialogue and debate was difficult for me to push through; I don't think I followed the how/why when it came to the intensity of their feelings both good and bad. While each character was interesting, the shifting of their relationship didn't feel natural and I didn't enjoy being in their heads this much.
I am a sucker for a good spooky setting though, and that part of the story was very well written in my opinion. The ghost felt threatening and the backstory pulled me in, but the progression and resolution fell short. I'm still not really sure what happened with the haunting and ghosts in the end and that left me wanting something more for that part of the storyline.
It was an easy, enjoyable offbeat read and I'm looking forward to finding future works by Colby Wilkins! Thanks to NetGalley, the author and the publisher for the ARC opportunity to review this title.

The book has an interesting premise but is just okay. In trying to straddle the line between horror and romance, it does a half-baked job at both. The beginning and the end are pretty good but the 2nd act doesn’t make sense. The characters are one note and their reactions to things don’t make much sense to me. There’s no gradual growth or change where you can see and understand their motivation, they just flip from being one thing to another so fast you get whiplash. I also found the conclusion to the ghost story unsatisfying.

Fun book with supernatural elements, great banter, and personal growth.
This was just not my vibe at all. The style and pacing don't match my personal preferences. I don't want to give a low star rating bc I can see how people would LOVE this, I just don't love dual POV romances.
